Yes I know I'm a wolf and I've been known to bite, But I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me
Welcome
Hello potential student and/or teacher!! Before you begin, there are a few things your had better know right away.
First, Whispers in the Dark is an alternate universe Vampire Knight rp. Meaning, we are based largely upon the anime, but we've expanded the world in a pretty big way and we just don't feel comfortable claiming it can be in the same universe as the original.
Secondly, there are only original characters here. There should be a certain equality among our student body and to achieve that, we feel everyone should play their own character and not one designed to be the star of the show. We are all the stars of our own show.
And finally, we are rated PG-13. We know our limits, but we love to use them to the fullest.
Your pre-orientation is now complete. If we seem like the place for you, check out the plot and the rest of the rules and don't be afraid to ask us anything in the cbox!
Very sorry, but purebloods and alphas are banned to beginning members. Once you have at least one character and show us you keep it active, please feel free to post a pureblood or alpha character to be considered.

Winter
The school has finally opened its doors to the... well, it's not so public yet.
All students are here by invitation only for now. Why? Because Cross Academy is a school unlike
any other... and not just because their school year begins in winter. Grades levels
(meaning freshman, sophomore, etc.) don't really matter much here. After all, the
students aren't just here to learn. We're all here to try to coexist. That's our main
priority. Teaching kids as we do it is just a bonus.
adjective - Having a smooth, rich flow; filled with something (such as honey) that sweetens.

We are hard at work redoing everything for WITD. It's been years and we are all older and wiser now, so it's time to give this site another shot! Let's get this thing back open!!
Dark has settled and a shroud of mist has fallen. The streets look like menacing mouths eager to swallow up those who enter the bowels of the city. Doors are tightly closed, windows shut and locked. Since the residents of the town have been advised to stay indoors, it looks almost as if the happy city of Travaine has turned into a ghost town. The only exception: the few brave souls who dare to venture out for relief efforts. While the citizens think the culprit of the lockdowns was a jail break, the warriors going against the monsters of the night know better. The masses of vampires have turned into smaller packs, roaming in small parties of 2 or 3 as opposed to the onslaught at the break of nightfall. These are the smart ones, the ex-humans who have hung back and waited for their prime moment to strike. This has turned from a free-for-all into a strategy game. Soldiers, ready your weapons.
You’re going to need them.

She thought she would have a little more time. She had believed that if she could make it to graduation without a single incident of the supernatural, then she would have been ready to make the decision of whether or not she wanted to step into the role of a hunter again. But what Meifen Inoue never realized about her origins is that being a hunter was more than a way of life; it was in her blood. Her instinct sang to her, and in the end it had the final word. Mei wasn't sure if she should celebrate or mourn her decision.
Mei lingered near one of the boarded-up windows of the factory, peering out into the night through a narrow slit between the planks. She was looking for the slightest hint of trouble. A tremble in the shadows, perhaps, or an unearthly noise that would signal the arrival of the town's unwelcome guests. Her heart was beating uneasily in her chest, like a wild bird throwing itself against the inside of a cage. While she did feel safe here - ironically enough, in one of the creepiest places in town -she also felt restless. She wanted to be out there, looking for the things that were making people hurt. She wanted to find them.
She wanted to end them.
Mei sighed and turned around, only to face a towering silhouette approaching her in the darkness. She tensed up as they approached, the soft glow of their red eyes taking her aback. However, as the figure approached the shadows slid from his face and gave him familiarity. It was the bodyguard, the albino boy. The red of his eyes had unsettled her. Though, at the moment, just about every little thing unsettled her.
"S-sorry," she says, and bows her head to him. She wasn't sure what she was apologizing for: being scared of him, or being scared of anything that had been coming toward her in a dark. Even though she was ready to come to blows, a part of her was still frightened of her opponents. Her courage was there, but so was her fear. If she didn't steel herself for the battle to come, then she was going to be less useful and more a danger to the group.
"Did you check the other side?"

"Yeah. They're not coming yet" replied Kazimir dully. He didn't approve of this situation at all. It was easy to kill monsters. At least then you could justify that their death resulted in the removal of some evil in the world... That was the justification for the death penalty, wasn't it? But Kaz had never thought of level E vampires as monsters. Maybe they were now, but they had once been human. They couldn't control their need for blood... But purebloods could. So who were the victims here? Or, more importantly, who were the ones at fault? No... The level E vampires weren't the real problem... And yet the school and the noble vampires wanted troops of high school students to eradicate them like vermin. To sweep the pureblood's mistakes under the carpet and be forgotten.
To be honest, this contorted abuse of power was one of only a few things which could get Kaz in a more sour mood than usual.
Fortunately, Theo wasn't there. That was the only thing that could make this whole thing worse. Kaz had left him in his room and told him not to leave. It was going to be dangerous tonight. Potentially deadly. It would be better for him to just worry about himself and the rest of his team. Himself, his team, clueless humans, and his brother... he didn't know if he could handle that. At least he was armed with a bit more than just his typical knives tonight. He held an AKS-74U -- because what was the point of having contacts in Russia if they couldn't get you some Russian weaponry for those times when you're being attacked by vampire swarms? -- in one hand and kept a second magazine for it in his pocket. The gun was just a luxury until he ran out of bullets. After that, he'd have to resort to his knives: two larger ones for hand-to-hand combat and a set of smaller ones for throwing. This was going to get bloody...

only about a minute after kaz left, theo and bunny sneaked after them, as quietly as possible. and so far, they had managed to come to the factory, without even being seen by anyone. he would've been proud of that accomplishment, but he knew that he was doing was wrong and that kaz wouldn't exactly be happy about it. clinging onto his bunny with both of his arms, he just listened what mei and kaz were talking about.
apparently, they were safe for now. theo pressed his body close to one of the factory walls. he had to be as silent as possible, if he wanted to survive this without being spotted by anyone. everything had worked out fine so far, except a certain smell that always made him wonder why it made him crave his 'special candy' so much, still oblivious to the fact that it was nothing else than blood pills.
"theo, we have to stay quiet now. you don't have time for candy now. this is serious! we could both die here! and kazi too!" bunny whispered, to which theo only replied with a shocked facial expression. if kaz died here, because of his stupidity, then the fact that he wanted to help him, would actually be his death. feeling tears filling his eyes, he shaked his head to get rid of them. if there only wasn't this smell that was bothering him so much...
overwhelmed by the power of the stench, he wanted to take only a little step forward to figure where it was coming from, but clumsy as he was, he tripped over a small rock which was in the way, falling to the ground, not loudly, but hearable. Yes, created, not born.
It didn't take much to realize that this woman was a lot more muscle than some, her emotionless state came in as soon as she removed her glasses and set them down on the nightstand before she came here. Dressed in nothing more than her old uniform before she fled. She had a strange attachment to the clothing, like a reminder of what she really was.
A weapon.
This girl barely felt pain, she just got use to emotions, and now, everything was coming to an end. At least for her, she had that feeling. Blue eyes barely grazed around at the sound of Theo falling, in this state, she didn't care. Looking back forward, the girl had barely moved since she got there, staring out, hearing, waiting, watching. A hand rested on a rather large sword tied to her hip, her own sword.
I promise, I will never unsheath you..
The promise was made good until Aegis..or Amakusa, as most known him, and the damn brat started fighting. She was so angry that she planned on chopping his head off, at least until her Master came in and told her of a new mission. Level E
A disgrace to the pureblood ways, vampires were all horrible creatures to a certain extent, but hey even she was. A small sigh escaped her, the girl looking down to her uniform for a split second, she wore something similar to assassians, the hood pulled up to cover her beautiful red hair. She wouldn't become a monster like the supernatural, she promised herself that..but there was only one goodbye left in her heart. It was to Amakusa..she feared that she would not see him before she died. A small scent of sorrow crossed her as she inhaled it slowly. A weapon...
That's all she was..[/style][/style] [STYLE=font-family: arial; font-size: 9px; color: #444444; margin-top: -10px; margin-bottom: 10px; letter-spacing: 4px; text-align: center;]made by SANA of BTN[/style]

That was the first emotion that came to her when it came to what they had been told. Killers were on the loose and people were dying and getting killed. Students were told to stay in their dorms and some of the teachers were going to help protect the school, people like mugen. The fact of that alone was enough to put shivers down her spine. But it was something else that bothered her.. she had heard whispers, whispers of students being involved in this as well. How could they make students try and fight these people.. they were killers!
She hated that they wanted her to stay inside hiding. She had never once had used a weapon and she didn't think she would be any use, but still. The fact that she had heard the rumor in the first place, was enough to send her into a frenzy of fear and determination to go. There was also the fact that she had promised mugen she would stay inside, so what was she to do. She paced the hallways of the dorms making sure most of the students were safe inside their rooms, or at least she thought most of them where.
That was when her eyes caught something. It was a movement of someone, someone small. Without thinking she moved after the small form hoping it was just her eyes playing tricks on her. But when she got closer she knew it was just the opposite. It was a student.. a young looking one to. She slightly recalled one of the students in the night class looking like a child instead of the real age he was. It couldn't be that he was going to was he! The thought made Lotte forget the slight fear she had about herself.
Without thinking the young art teacher raced off after the young boy though, she wasn't right behind him (or close enough for him to hear for that matter). She started to run, trying to keep up with his small form and found him going towards town, just as night started to come down on the city. This was when, Lotte realized she would have to get closer. Not only was she not good with seeing in the dark, but a fog was creeping in on her as well. A slight shiver ran up her spine at it and she pushed the fear down. After all she had come after the student, it wasn't time for her to be afraid.
She didn't see him anymore but kept pushing forward finding herself towards the edge of town near the rundown factory. Where was the student though? She shivered again and really couldn't see which way was which. Maybe... this wasn't such a good idea after all. "H-Hello?" she called a little too loudly. After she did however she put a hand to her mouth. There were killers out... and.. if they were here... she had would have just given herself away.

The first move from the vampires was a mildly subtle one… depending on how loud the smallest vampire around was. They chased Theodore away from the group, making sure they herded him over to the weakest body in the area. The only human. They surrounded Lotte and Theodore, pushing them within the ring and laughing. Playing with their food wasn’t always the best of things to do, especially when it made too much noise. But these two were so weak, the prey so easy to catch. They just couldn’t help themselves.
Before she could hear anything, Mei felt a ripple in the quiet. Out of the corner of her good eye she could see movement, as fleeting as shadows on water, slither in the darkness. Then came the noise: that awful, rushing, hungry sound of something wild looking to sink its teeth into something alive. Her heart quickened with both fear and anticipation. She was scared, but she was also ready; and her readiness brought with it a mighty courage that greatly pleased and surprised her. ”Did you hear that?” Of course he had; they all had. No matter how well-hidden the lion, it still rustled the tall grass.
Mei ran down the stairs, shouting, ”Ms. Romano! Ms. Romano, they’re outside!” At this point, Mei’s blood was singing in her ears. She had been trying to suppress generations of instinct for years; and now, when faced with her natural-born enemy, Mei couldn’t help but feel enlivened. She paused at the entrance of the factory, waiting for Kazimir and Alessandra.

Kaz thought that he heard someone... a woman... someone he knew... but that wasn't possible. She was back at the school with everyone else. But then he heard inaudible whispering... the feint thud of someone falling... laughter. Mei heard it, too. Already rushing towards the window, there was no need for Kaz to answer her. He wasn't just hearing things.
But then, when he reached a place where he could shoot from, he saw the level E's victims. No... that wasn't right... couldn't be right... Theo was supposed to be at the school, as was Lotte. Neither of them had to be in danger. Neither of them had to see this. Everything that could have gone wrong to start off this battle had just gone wrong.
Fuck.
He didn't waste any time in looking through the barrel of his gun, being careful not to aim too closely to Theo or Lotte. He followed the vampires' movements, watching their bodies rise and fall as they circled around his brother... 'Kazimir, yesli ublyudok pytaetsya navreditʹ vam, otstrelitʹ golovu. On rabotaetprakticheski na vse, chto dvizhetsya.' ... funny he should be thinking about his other brother now. He fired at the first one's head before being spotted, then aimed for the second's. However, now Mei was shouting... Kaz would have preferred just sniping from the second story of the building, but if they wanted to resort to an all-out bloodbath, he wasn't going to hang back. He couldn't see anything or maneuver from up here. He'd be more useful on the ground.
"Blyad..." he muttered angrily as he quickly fired a second bullet before climbing down from the window, landing on his feet and making his way over to Theo.
ooc: if anyone cares for the translation from russian: "Kazimir, if a bastard tries to hurt you, shoot his head. It works on virtually everything that moves." the second bit is basically the russian equivalent of "fuck"

Theo was not happy about hearing an unfamiliar voice. Not at all. It could mean one of two things. Either, that he had been terribly loud. Loud enough to make someone he didn't even know aware of his presence. Or the other thing, that one of the Level Es was already talking to him. With a pretty...non-creepy voice. Unfortunately, the boy didn't even have time to pay much more attention to what was happening somewhere with just...some voices as the real threat started around him just moments later. Hearing a noise, then two, then three, before a group of vampires actually escaped their hiding spots, chasing the helpless blonde out of his own spot, even further away from his brother's group.
in a mixture of fear and shock, the boy stumbled around a bit as he saw the person the voice had been coming from. obviously, not dangerous, but did that matter by now? not really. surrounded by aggressive bloodthirsty monster, the boy dropped to the floor, clinging onto his pink bunny doll. being poked and laughed at, he felt as if he was back in the very, very old days again. weak, helpless, without knowing what to say. if he had any possibility to talk by now, he would've probably told the woman next to him, that it was pretty dumb from her to come here, even though he hadn't been any smarter. this place was more than just dangerous, he knew that by now. but what he didn't know, was what to do know. no way was kaz going to notice him where he was now, right? "oh you guys certainly have no idea, who ya messin' with!" was the only thing bunny had to add.
a shot. "uaaaah!" it actually was pretty interesting that theo wasn't crying by now. if he wanted to survive this and help his brother, he had to be a man now. his eyes following the bullet's way, he jumped up. the shot probably confused these creatures enough to stop doing whatever did for a moment. who shot the bullet? he had no idea, but it gave him just enough time to find his focus again. quickly turning his head to the woman next to him, he took a deep breath. "okay miss, i don't really know what you are doing here, but if you want to get out of this thing alive, you better be careful and don't trip or whatever!" tilting his head, almost smiling, he was disturbed by another bullet. flinching a bit, he shaked his head quickly. nothing to be afraid of. "nyeeeeh~~~~~" a pretty angry sounding noise, considering it came from theo, left his mouth as he took the chance to kick one of the vampires between the legs.
for a moment, the thought of apologizing crossed his mind, before he realized what he actually was doing here. his eyes moving around the area, things still didn't look too good until he finally caught a glimpse of the only thing, or, more fitting, person, that could always make him feel better, no matter what he felt. "Kazi! Kazi! I'm here! I'm right over here!!" he shouted, jumping up and down, waving both of his arms around, to make sure he was spotted. of course, the vampires around him still made him feel scared as hell, but as long as his brother was with him, everything was going to be alright. "HEY!"
That seemed to catch their attention, a few turning to instead attack her as she unsheathed her sword and narrowed her eyes, as they ran at her, she bolted toward them. The long sword slicing through skin, flesh and bone as one fell in half, she turned and with a swift hit sliced the other's head in half. Her body moving like a dancers, a swans even, she was graceful..almost beautiful.
Looking at Theo and Lotte, the girl gave a gentle growl. "Get back to Mei and Kaz, hurry! I'll hold them off." With that, she jumped in front of the two with her sword raised, blood dripping off of it as the red head smiled darkly. The rest of the Level E's seemed to get agitated that their meal was about to get away.
"Come on you crazed blood suckers, free meal right here!"
A small laugh escaped her, the girl wasn't the same as before, she looked slightly crazy. Then again, she wasn't getting out the game this early, if she was going to die, she was going to die letting everyone know her legacy of killing as many of these bastards as possible.
With one swift twirl, the sword came up and cut one across the chest, he hissed and backed away while another jumped on her back. She grabbed it by the hair and yanked as hard as she possibly could, with her advancements in strength the vampire fell off her shoulder and crashed into the ground with a sickening thud, her sword came crashing down onto his skull, blood splattered against her boots.[/style][/style] [STYLE=font-family: arial; font-size: 9px; color: #444444; margin-top: -10px; margin-bottom: 10px; letter-spacing: 4px; text-align: center;]made by SANA of BTN[/style]

She was all alone in the fog or so she thought. Slowly figures started moving and that honestly freaked her out worse. That was when she saw the boy she had been following though. A few figures pushed them back. The two of them were surrounded but she couldn't see well. "A-Are you okay?" she asked the boy first. Where these guys the killers? Would they really attack this night class student and her? She didn't know how to feel about any of this. Though, she thought she could hear someone else.
That was when shots went off and it scared her. She thankfully didn't scream which would of probably only gotten them in more trouble. The few that were around her started to drop and her eyes flicked to the boy who was talking to her. D-don't trip?! She didn't think that she would, though she had been known to be clumsy so often. "I-I wont. You be careful too." she said before he seemed to .... growl? He attacked one of the people around them and she stayed close to him. That was when he started jumping instead.
Was... this kid okay? His words where what caught her attention more. Kazi? Her eyes flicked to where he was looking. That was when she recognized him. "Kazmir..." she said softly. She was going to say something but a woman moved over them. A sword in her hand. Oh dear .... was this really her dreaming? She listened to her words and without thinking tried to grab onto the small blonde's hand. He knew Kaz, she knew kaz... so best choice to go to him and the other female right?
So Lotte quickly moved hopping the blonde would come too. "Lets get to Kazmir." she said quickly heading that way.

Just because a few of their brothers decided to look away and concentrate on where the shots came from didn't mean they were entirely distracted. Theodor's movements were... needless to say, obvious and annoying. One of the level E's aimed a kick for the smallest vampire's head before most all of them turned their attention to Alessandra. All of the surrounding level E's pounced her at once, every last one of them going in for the kill. The others had their attention on the attackers that decided to show themselves.
You're all in trouble, tactile retreat or stand your ground?
out of character note:: Alessandra has requested the character death.

The first threat Kaz noticed was the vampire who aimed a kick at Theo. The same vampire now had a tight cluster of five bullet holes through its chest. Kaz didn't care if its blood splattered onto Lotte or Theo. In this fight, blood would be inevitable. No matter what he did, he couldn't change that.
Come on you crazed blood suckers, free meal right here!
What the hell was she doing? Playing hero? He couldn't keep them off her back if they all attacked at once. Even if he had two guns and an extra set of arms to hold his knives, there was no positive outcome Kaz could imagine coming from those words. And they did all attack at once. He tried thinning their numbers... but there were so many. It would have been difficult to not hit one of them, so all he really needed to focus on was not hitting Mei or Alessa.
As he fired off bullets into the horde of vampires, he grabbed Lotte's arm and pulled her behind him, towards an entrance to the factory, then addressed her and Theo in a tone virtually devoid of any warmth "Go inside. Find a narrow hallway. We need to bottleneck them." That was all he needed: some sort of plan, some sort of advantage, that could turn around the failed start of this battle into their favor. He just hoped they would listen to him this time...

"i...no! this..." theo's eyes tried focusing on a single thing, but failed, causing him to look around in the most confused way imaginable. a bit of blood splattered on his jacket, causing him to scream and throw said jacket on the ground.
the smell made him think of candy. his special candy, the one his parents and kazi always carried with them in case he wanted or needed it. but right now, there was no time for candy, so he tried hard to fight the temptation. letting himself be dragged by the woman, he tightly held onto Bunny with his free hand. "y-yes please!" his eyes fixed on his goal, his brother, theo quickened his steps, while turning his head around to the red haired girl. "B-but Mei! And the glasses-woman! What's with them now?" by now, he had realized how serious this situation was. however, it wouldn't change anything about his determination.
frowning, he just stared at his brother. the tone he had while talking scared the blonde, even though it probably was understandable that he wasn't to happy to see him here. "b-but kazi! i can't just leave you alone here! someone HAS to protect you!" he shouted, his voice cracking while he already was out of breath. was it right for him to come here? really, someone had to protect kaz. and theo knew that he was the one who just had to do it. it was his reason of existing, even though he often didn't seem to fitting for that role. but then again, he probably would've protected kaz, or better said, his mind better if he had just stayed in his room...
still, he was here now and he couldn't yield. [/style] [STYLE=font-size:10px; padding-left: 12px; font-weight: bold]words: 334 tags: team TALK-Meg notes: <3 credit: template made by oxymoron! of btn[/style]
