Yes I know I'm a wolf and I've been known to bite, But I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me
Welcome
Hello potential student and/or teacher!! Before you begin, there are a few things your had better know right away.
First, Whispers in the Dark is an alternate universe Vampire Knight rp. Meaning, we are based largely upon the anime, but we've expanded the world in a pretty big way and we just don't feel comfortable claiming it can be in the same universe as the original.
Secondly, there are only original characters here. There should be a certain equality among our student body and to achieve that, we feel everyone should play their own character and not one designed to be the star of the show. We are all the stars of our own show.
And finally, we are rated PG-13. We know our limits, but we love to use them to the fullest.
Your pre-orientation is now complete. If we seem like the place for you, check out the plot and the rest of the rules and don't be afraid to ask us anything in the cbox!
Very sorry, but purebloods and alphas are banned to beginning members. Once you have at least one character and show us you keep it active, please feel free to post a pureblood or alpha character to be considered.

The Season
Year
Year One, First Semester
Season
Winter
The school has finally opened its doors to the... well, it's not so public yet.
All students are here by invitation only for now. Why? Because Cross Academy is a school unlike
any other... and not just because their school year begins in winter. Grades levels
(meaning freshman, sophomore, etc.) don't really matter much here. After all, the
students aren't just here to learn. We're all here to try to coexist. That's our main
priority. Teaching kids as we do it is just a bonus.
adjective - Having a smooth, rich flow; filled with something (such as honey) that sweetens.

It's been a few days, but everything has been rewritten, tweaked, and updated now!! Finally done!! We are pleased to reindroduce Wispers in the Dark!! We hope you will find the updates fantasic and have a wonderful time here! Welcome!

We are hard at work redoing everything for WITD. It's been years and we are all older and wiser now, so it's time to give this site another shot! Let's get this thing back open!!
Dark has settled and a shroud of mist has fallen. The streets look like menacing mouths eager to swallow up those who enter the bowels of the city. Doors are tightly closed, windows shut and locked. Since the residents of the town have been advised to stay indoors, it looks almost as if the happy city of Travaine has turned into a ghost town. The only exception: the few brave souls who dare to venture out for relief efforts. While the citizens think the culprit of the lockdowns was a jail break, the warriors going against the monsters of the night know better. The masses of vampires are going after whoever so much as stands in sight. Blood litters the ground, some humans dead with mangled bodies strewn about. No one is safe here, and unless you're prepared to defend yourself, you might not survive. Soldiers, ready your weapons.
You’re going to need them.

The obnoxious stench, mixed with the sight of mangled bodies was unsupportable. he tried not to act that way around others, but normally, he was way too sensitive for things like that. the whole reason for him, to actually be on this academy, was to show that it was perfectly possible for wolves, vampires, hunters and humans to live with each other. without problems. and now? now, this blood-bath happened. sure, level e-vampires were castaways, even amongst their kind, but that didn't change anything. nothing at all.
he resisted the desire to just puke, as he passed by a multilated corpse, turning around to his fellow team members. it was a mission, not some funny meetup, so he tried to not think about the relationships he shared with those people. he even tried to ignore the fact, that one of those people was, indeed, his boyfriend. "okay guys, even though we probably have a home-field-advantage, just don't ever let your guard down." normally not really the person to act like this, a mixture of concern and sadness was apparent on his face.
"i really don't want anything to happen.." looking up at the moon and the way it was covered by clouds, he started walking again. approaching an alley, he carefully took a look inside, taking a deep breath. he never would admit it, but he indeed was fearing. not for his life or something, but for everyone else's. if anyone died because of him, he never would be able to forgive himself. not seeing anything dangerous inside, he turned around to his team members again. "as they can just be about everywhere...WOAH!" as some shadowy figure jumped at him out of nowhere, he instinctively managed to knock it out with the pipe he was carrying. "If there's one, the rest of 'em can't be that far. Get ready." [/style]

Even the wind stood still… or was it just Miki? Padding through the open with her team, the alpha she-wolf was calm, collected; for the first time since being in Japan, she was doing the one thing she was good at. This was what she was trained for, her whole life before Cross Academy had been about working to be the strongest, the fastest, and the most deadly bitch around. Her pack leader had taught her (and all her fellow young leaders) to be the alpha among alphas. They were wild werewolves, unable to be tamed or told what to do by anyone but themselves.
Of course, she couldn’t say she hadn’t seen this coming, after all, from the very beginning, Miki had been saying that this whole situation was dangerous. Something like this was expected, the dame was ready for it. The only question now was… was her team ready for it? Heterochromic eyes glanced to the members of her team, studying them for weakness. Above all else, the femme was a protector; she would not allow harm to her brood.
A captain by birthright, Miki would go down with the ship if it meant the safety of those around her. But fate willing, it wouldn’t come to that and they would all leave this place with their lives.
Her legs quaked with excitement and built up adrenaline. Some new mindset she had developed since being here told her it was morbid for her to be like this at the prospect of killing vampires (creatures of which she’d made quite a few friends), but all the voices of her home resonating in her head told her this was fine, that this was how she was. Violent, morbid, dangerous; all the things that would make her pack proud.
“If you don’t want anything to happen, look out for yourself and don’t die before the action starts.” She growled in reply to Jack’s comment and pushed her way through the door. Miki was as big as a horse in this form, if there was anyone best suited for the front line, it was her.[/style]

Fear lingered from the more populated part of town, but right now… right now they were somewhere that was so unpopulated it could have been considered a dead zone, even before the abominations started attacking. The factory had been run down before… and it had always seemed suspicious, but now it was outright menacing. Like a tower of terror amongst the other buildings.
Dimitri looked up at it, tipping his head to the side before he gently ran his hand through Miki’s fur, “Now now… don’t be like that. We’re all a team here, we have to work together.” Though he was very confident that they would all make it out alive. Not only was he here, but Miki was the strongest werewolf he knew. They would make it, and they would manage it easily. The vampire took a few steps forward and gently placed his hand on the young hunter’s shoulder, “Everything will be ok. We’ll have each other’s backs, yea? Chin up.” He gently tapped the red head’s chin, making the younger boy look at him. “You have me on your team. I won’t let you come to harm.” He gave Jake a harmless wink before he followed the she-wolf into the factory.
The stench was even worse inside than it was outside, “Smells like they swim in their own shit.” Dimitri sighed softly, looking around. There was no movement… not right then. The level E’s knew that they were coming. It was… slightly concerning but nothing that they couldn’t handle. They would just have to be a little more careful than he was anticipating. He had expected to go in, guns blazing… but they seemed a little more intelligent than he’d given them credit for. Oh well, it made the hunt that much more fun.
The older vampire rolled his shoulders, removing his whip from his belt. He could kill these fiends with his bare hands if he was so inclined to do so… but he really wasn’t. And a whip gave him long enough range to attack and not have to get his suit bloody. He uncurled the weapon, hearing the leather gently hit the floor. Still no movement. It was deathly quiet and he would have been nervous if he were younger. It made him fear for the little hunter… he clearly was too upset to be here, in the very heart of the carnage.

After doing some shopping he had to do for school, that well he couldn't do on campus. And refused to let anyone else do for him nor did he actually tell anyone where he was going. All he did was mention it to Jake and his "supposed" other friends earlier. Not that he thought he was going to be out this late slipping the materials into his pack he just stepped forward. That child that ran up his spine he didn't like it and moved away from his normal route. Well it was how he ended up in here this factory or whatever it was. A place he was told never to go.
And now here he was maybe he should have just stayed on the normal path. But he couldn't get that feeling out of his mind at all. Just taking another step kicking a pipe on the ground there was blood and his hands instantly shot over his mouth. To avoid screaming or showing any reaction, things were bad here. Oh so bad and he was stuck in the middle of it so much for being smart. This was not a good setting in general and much less for a human when they had no idea what was going on. He wondered if he was just the only one here or was there other people.
He didn't know all he could tell was he was being watched by something or someone. Picking up the pipe he wiped the blood off on something near him. He would not wipe it on his own clothes since of course it could cause problems. Not that he knew there was a chance it could lead something to him. The boy blinked and shivered he was struggling to focus and not let his mind get the better of him. Jumping at the sound of something next to him the pipe in his hand actually almost fell out of his hands. He was really not doing very well today.
"What the hell is going on here!" The boy actually cursed it wasn't one of those major bad ones, but he never did that. Till now apparently he should have never left the academy. He went in the direction of where the voices were maybe they'd give him some clue as to what was going on here.
He was scared out of his mind but he would keep his cool or try to for now. Better then letting his guard down because of fear.[/style][STYLE=background-color:#D83018; width:416px; margin-top:10px; padding:3px; font-size:11px; line-height:20px; letter-spacing:1px; color:#FDFCCE; text-shadow:2px 0px 1px #3A3232; font-family:georgia; text-transform:uppercase;]when i'm too far gone, dead in the eyes of my friends[/style]

Every last denizen within the factory knew as soon as their territory was breached. They all sprung to action within the dark, climbing up the walls or hiding behind the machinery. It was easy to hear them. They sounded like giant rats in the rafters. Or perhaps a little more like monkeys, with how they jumped and swung from one support beam to the next. Still, it was nearly impossible for them to be seen, even for those with eyes that were much better adapted to darkness. Even the wolves would be put at a disadvantage, for the entire area reeked of the vampires. There was no telling where their current location was through scent finding them. For now, everything seemed calm. No level E’s leapt from the shadows, but instead moved into position to surround the team. Even Chibari was safe. For now.
Venture further into the factory or stay where you are?

This was beyond what he’d thought to see. Corpses round every corner, the sick, copper smell of a variety of boy fluid filling the stale, frozen air. It made the wolf’s stomach churn in pure disgust but their as no time to be squeamish.
His team had a job, heading straight into the heart of the Level E’s territory. The scent of vampires was everywhere, piercing through the other more rotten smells. He was lucky in that aspect. The combination didn’t just make him furious, but encouraged the images and urges in his mind of digging his teeth into the flesh of those crazy leeches.
Their were five, in their team. He wasn’t the old huge wolf rotting around town. Another were- Miki was her name- took the lead, as the alpha she was. A teacher from the school, the vampire of their group, stayed right behind the she-wolf, confident and capable. And then, their was the person Maelekai was most worried about. Jake. Some could say he was the only one the wolf would care about at this point.
Mae’s massive but lithe body brought up the rear. Pure white fur glistened in the moon light, golden eyes catching a shine every once in a while as he moved through the shadows, following his teammates. Despite his size, he still moves silently, listening and sniffing, searching for any sign of their enemy. Though they were the same height, Miki was still large than him. He didn’t mind. He was meant for speed. Quick, fierce attacking and tracking.
But, as they stepped into the factory, even his nose burned with the effect of such strong, scattered scents. A low growl ripped from his chest, hearing the creatures skittering around them in the dark. The fur on his back bristled and he immediately took place by Jake, his whole body language daring anything to get too close to the red head. He was silent though, refusing to break his concentration with idle chatter. Who would strike first?

The smell, the quiet noises. The darkness, the mist. All those things turned the scenery into something resembling a horror-movie. Jacob somehow managed to completely ignore Miki. It always was a hard thing to ignore someone with a mouth like that, even more so if said person was a horse-sized wolf. But hey, considering it was Jake we're talking about, he did a pretty awesome job at it. This here was no place for any arguments and the likes, it was all about surviving right now.
still aware of the dangerous situation they were in, jacob flinched when he felt a touch on his shoulder, only to feel awfully embarassed about it, realizing it was no vampire...well, at least no dangerous one. "y-yeah. thank you..." he mumbled, forcing himself to smile at dimitri. while the blonde vampire seemed completely confident, jake...didn't. and he wasn't, either.
jacob often felt as if he had to envy some people because of their confidence, just to feel bad about it only seconds after. envy wasn't really something to be proud of, after all. sighing softly, to get rid of unnecessary thoughts, he looked to mae, who seemed ready to attack just about anyone. nothing had attacked, yet. but the noises were threatening, the red-head had to admit that. when he heard one especially loud noise, followed by some cursing, he blinked a few times. that was no vampire. not at all. checking out where the noise came from, he rushed to said source, only to cover its mouth his free hand. "chi, the fuck are you doing here?" he hissed, trying to be as quiet as possible. he was some feet apart from his group by now, making sure his little friend was safe, even though he didn't even know what the hell he had to do here as a human. "don't you know you should stay the hell in the school?" [/style]

As was Dimitri’s hand in her fur. (Normally a man would lose his hand for touching her in this form, but with her guardian, she was beyond used to it.) The stench, however, when she entered the building dominated all her senses, making the she wolf dizzy and becoming almost impossible to ignore. It knocked the air out of her lungs and Miki resisted the urge to gag as she coughed and snorted.
“That’s just plain disgustin’.” A growl laced her words as her lips pulled back to show her repulsion, “Is this what a roost always smells like? They don’t stink this much one on one--” She stopped herself, growing silent and still. Auds pricked, pivoting in all directions; she could hear them. The noises they made against the rafters was like listening to bats in a cave.
A growl rumbled in her throat and the bitch pulled back her lips, flaunting her long fangs in a threatening snarl directed as nothing. “I hear the little bastards.” Miki hissed, snapping her jowls together in irritation.
In her pack, this would have been a normal day of hunting. Storm the lair, flush them out, and take your pick of the feast (so long as you can catch and kill in yourself). They ripped them apart alive, eating them before their bodies could turn to dust. It was rare to find a vampire’s body; ashes were normal, but a body was difficult. And yet the southern North American packs had done it, feasting off the bodies as if they were deer. The essa had seen it, had done it.
Heterochromic eyes flicked to the side, following Jake’s movements, and landed on a human she had seen before. What the fuck was up with this kid?! Miki had never met him personally, hadn’t even bothered to get his name, but he always seemed to be right smack-dab in the middle of everything he shouldn’t be. Why the hell were the humans around here so dense?!
A snap was directed his way, but the lupa’s attention remained on the vampires crowding in the darkness, just out of sight on the ceiling. C’mon. I know you’re there. I’m ready, damn it! Bring it, you ugly little pricks![/style]

Get your ass back here… and he can’t leave. Not right now. He’ll be killed for certain.” He wouldn’t put it past the level E’s to follow him once he left. Else-wise the vampire would have just told Chibari to go the fuck home, and scold him for being a fucking moron. God, he hated humans. Not only were they just his food source but they were so goddamn stupid.
If they were to split apart now, then there was no way that they would really be able to defend themselves. There were power in numbers, and while they were together they were powerful… separated and his students were liabilities instead of help. He should have just suggested to bring Miki and Everett to the factory on their own… let the two wolves do what they were born to do… what they were viciously raised to do. It didn’t bother him all that much that they were practically savage. It was how they were raised. They had no choice in the matter.
The vampire stood his ground, waiting for the vampires to attack first. Sure, he could lash out into the darkness… but if he didn’t hit something then they could take the recoil to their advantage. After all, using a whip could be mighty slow. And if he was bringing it back to a resting position and something attacked, it’d be hard for him to get it off him. And so… they had to wait. It seemed as though, thus far, they would be staying near the entrance. A good choice. They needed to clear a path before they investigated further into the factory. Or they could get cornered with no hope to escape.

Yes for once he didn't want to be here or have anything to do with this. The one time Chibari tried to avoid trouble it ended up finding him. He was just going back to the school and got trapped here instead. Why did this have to happen he was just confused as it was. He blinked and rubbed his eyes seriously he felt like he was missing something. This school was odd but now this made him think even more on how weird it was.
Feeling a hand over his mouth he was about to bite it when he heard the voice. So he knew who this person was bu why were they here asking him questions. He didn't want to be here at all and never would have if he could get away. "I didn't want to be here! I was walking back and ended up up here!" The boy spoke through the hand he was not sure he wanted to deal with this. He should have just stayed home but it hadn't been bad when he went out to get stuff for school. "I just went to get stuff was coming back when this happened!" He sighed and just shook his head this was his fault.
Always right knowing who he was he just had to get into trouble one way or another. Sometimes not by choice like this one he didn't want to be here he just ended up here. He felt out of place like this was not a place for him which it wasn't. But then again what choice did he have he was supposed to work with all of this right.
Just looking around to the others he wanted to ask what was going on here truly. Now he really just wanted to go home but sticking close to Jake was all he could do. Contrary to popular belief, level E's were not stupid. They watched the group intently, re-positioning themselves and scurrying around as the members of the team moved and isolated themselves. Something like this was just what they had been waiting for. The humans had flocked to each other like magnets and now it was time to act! Before anyone else could venture closer, several vampires dropped from their place on the ceiling, forming a wall between them. They hissed and grinned, knowing there were others to take their place if they fell... and then the attack came. Three launched themselves at Jack and Chibari as the rest swarmed in on the wolves and Dimitri.
Fight for your lives! Or lose them in your carelessness!

They should have entered more carefully. Dammit Miki! He didn’t noticed Jake breaking away to the other human, Chibari, before it was too late. His ear flickered in their direction before his head sapped over to follow, golden eyes widening. Jake broke from the pack. JAKE FUCKING BROKE FROM THE PACK! No, no, no! This wasn’t good1 Instincts set in as another strong growl ripped from Maelekai’s chest.
”Jake! Get back here!” he called, though his muzzle didn’t move. But, it was indeed too late. The Level E’s made their move. Collected and organized, they rained down upon the team in waves. Mae knew Jake shouldn’t have come to the nest! It was too dangerous! White fur rippled over muscle as Maelekai suddenly whipped around and made from a leap, skittering to a stop as a wall of Vampires formed around him, blocking his way and Mae’s view f his boyfriend and the other human. He snarl and snapped his monstrous jaws, elongated canines bared and ready.
”GET OUT OF MY WAY!” He dove forward, digging claws and teeth into the first creature that got in his way. Snow white first stained crimson as he jerked his head, violent ripping a limb before releasing the screaming Vampire, barking out as another latched onto him from the right. He tossed his head, taking hold of its side, tarring it away from his ribcage, braking through skin, muscle and bone in his furry. He tossed the body, living or dead, to the side, slick, warm, red liquid dripping from his jaw. No one was going to hurt his mate. No one!
Suddenly, his mind drifted to the others. But, they were not as vulnerable as Jake and his friend. Now. They were who needed Mae. Dimitri and Miki could handle themselves well enough. Maelekai had someone he had to protect. Someone he needed to protect. He was knocked from his thoughts as another swarm of the creatures came at him. [/style][/style]

He himself, for leaving the group and isolating himself from the team that would assure his safety or chibari for "somehow ending up here". He went to get stuff? Seriously? Because it's perfectly normal to get stuff in a town full of bloodthirsty vampires, pardon, mass murderers. There probably was no word which could describe Jacob's anger right now.
Apparently, Dimitri wasn't too happy either. Understandable, because now that he was where he was, Jake realized that he was the biggest moron he could be right now. "But because he can't leave, I have to protect him somehow!" he shouted over, still not sure if his thoughts made any sense right now, completely ignoring whatever Chibari said. Discussing with him would just end somehow terrible. That was for sure. Even though most of his thoughts circled around Chibari's and his own stupidity, he was concerned about Mae's safety as well. Knowing him, he wouldn't just accept jake leaving the group, even if it was just a moment.
the last thing jacob heard before he was attacked was, exactly, mae shouting for him. glancing over to him quickly, he had to turn around only a moment after to hit the first attacking vampire with the pipe in his hands. hoooome-run! the first one was no big problem, same with the second one. the third one caught him off guard though, as jake jumped in front of chibari to protect him from the vampire's attack. the vampire landed on him, causing him to fall to the ground. it was desperately trying to push the monster away, jacob somehow managed to kick the creature off of him, so he had at least the time to stand up and get ready to strike again.
looking at the creepy grin of the vampire who had stood up again by now, he certainly was sure that he was going to smash chi's head with the pipe as soon as they were safe again. [/style]

Well, couldn't say she didn't expect that... It was almost spelled out to them, a one of the most basic tactics. Why on earth did she have to be paired with such idiots?!
Because life made sure of it, obviously.
"What the fuck're you doin, Maelekai?! Fall back in rank!!" she snarled, but made no move to stop him as the ivory brute took off through the crowd of vampires. God fucking damnit... Did no one on this team have any tactical thoughts at all?! At this rate, they were all going to die. Well whatever! They weren't her pack, she owed them nothing; the only one here even remotely considered her family was Dimitri. As long as he stayed with her, things would be ok.
"I swear to god, Dimitri, if you leave my side, I'll fuckin kill you myself!" Miki growled with a snap of her jaws to emphasize.
The alphena would have moved closer to him, but the first wave of level E vampires they the other werewolf had not barreled through were flying at them. "... You better not die." she hissed before she propelled her massive body at the beasts.
This was the easy part; killing these bastards was what she was used to. They went down easily beneath her weight, the advantage of her gargantuan size proving too much for them... But it wasn't over there. It never was. Instead of killing the fucker she pinned, she allowed a few more to leap upon her back as she tore into his gut, listening to him scream as she swallowed large chunks of his flesh.
"Ah, your screaming sounds like music." The wails were music to her ears and the essa smiled, snorting in pleasure through the blood that now pooled in and around her mouth. Oh, how she had missed this; it was like being home again... Only this time, she was the only one enjoying the spoils. If only they were all from her pack, this probably would have gone a lot more smoothly... Too bad. More for her then.
The screeching of her meal spooked the other level E's, causing a few of them to back away from her for fear of being eaten themselves. It would do them no good, eventually she mould rip her way through every last one of them.
Turning from her, now deceased, prey as he began to wither away, turning to ash before her eyes, Miki set her sights on the next juicy looking vampire, grinning as the blood dripped from her jowls. "Come on, the more, the merrier!" She called and launched herself at them.[/style]
