Yes I know I'm a wolf and I've been known to bite, But I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me
Welcome
Hello potential student and/or teacher!! Before you begin, there are a few things your had better know right away.
First, Whispers in the Dark is an alternate universe Vampire Knight rp. Meaning, we are based largely upon the anime, but we've expanded the world in a pretty big way and we just don't feel comfortable claiming it can be in the same universe as the original.
Secondly, there are only original characters here. There should be a certain equality among our student body and to achieve that, we feel everyone should play their own character and not one designed to be the star of the show. We are all the stars of our own show.
And finally, we are rated PG-13. We know our limits, but we love to use them to the fullest.
Your pre-orientation is now complete. If we seem like the place for you, check out the plot and the rest of the rules and don't be afraid to ask us anything in the cbox!
Very sorry, but purebloods and alphas are banned to beginning members. Once you have at least one character and show us you keep it active, please feel free to post a pureblood or alpha character to be considered.

The Season
Year
Year One, First Semester
Season
Winter
The school has finally opened its doors to the... well, it's not so public yet.
All students are here by invitation only for now. Why? Because Cross Academy is a school unlike
any other... and not just because their school year begins in winter. Grades levels
(meaning freshman, sophomore, etc.) don't really matter much here. After all, the
students aren't just here to learn. We're all here to try to coexist. That's our main
priority. Teaching kids as we do it is just a bonus.
adjective - Having a smooth, rich flow; filled with something (such as honey) that sweetens.

Excitement bolted through the air as the click clacking sound of heels could be heard upon the cobblestone street. The downcast sky seems to have deterred several people from going outside, considering it could rain or snow at any given moment. The day was beginning to end and the clouds only got darker. Although for Yuri, this was the perfect time to be out. Not even a glimmer of sunlight peeped through the heavy clouds which meant no clunky sun glass, parasol, or a sunburn!
This pink haired petite princess had just finished unpacking everything in her dorm and hit the streets running. While most people would call it a day and rest from a long flight to another country, there was only one thing on this girl's mind. Sweets! She had to at least visit one local shop in town to get an idea of what this new place had in store for her. The curiosities of new desserts drew her to this local venue and without judgement or hesitation she busted through the doors, not literally of course. She actually politely walked in.
Upon entering the store, she was greeted warmly by the elderly couple behind the counter. Which in return she greeted them kindly. As her teal eyes diverted away from them, it was then that she spotted the marvels of this quaint little shop: the case that held beautifully displayed and unique flavors of ice cream and even gelato! Although among those diverse flavors were a few classics like chocolate and vanilla but today was different and that’s something Yuri craved.
So spontaneously enough she asked for the flavor of the day which happened to be Earl Grey Ice Cream. Even though green tea ice cream was quite the popular flavor back in her county this would be the first time she has tasted another type of tea ice cream. So Yuri jubilantly exchanged her money for a cup of that sugary sweetness and made her way to a table near the window.
After taking a seat she pulled the brightly colored spoon out of the cup which brought a nice dollop of ice cream with it. Just from looking at it Yuri could tell that this was made with perfection and care as it appeared quite creamy. Taking her first bite was like sledding down a hill coated in snow. It was smooth and this new flavor made it a fun and exciting experience. What could possible make this day any better?

Thanks to the thick clouds heavy with precipitation, Sayeh had made sure to wear a jacket with a hood, which he made sure was up as he walked down the sidewalk. His hands were shoved heavily into the pockets of the jacket, and he would only remove them when the wind threatened to blow the hood off. In truth he really would rather not be out in the wind and possible rain if he could at all help it, but he really needed his usual fix.
Which was why it was such a relief as he walked through that door. The elderly couple greeted him by name, already having met him from his daily visit to their store. He always got his sweet coffees from them, or even other sweet treats. Though those were never taken back to the school with him. He always ate them at the store or on his way back. He put on his sweetest smile for the older folks, speaking to them in a honey voice as he ordered. He, too, got the earl gray tea. However, he got his floating in a cup of actual tea, using it as a sweetener as well as something of a float.
When they handed him his tea, he very nearly wolfed out in his joy, but he took it from them and turned around. However he almost dropped his tea with a help, only just managing to clutch it to his chest. He'd never come into contact with such a strange scent before, and only the scent of sweets had covered it up. But this was, indeed, a vampire that was sitting in the store with him.
Sayeh became flustered as he thought of what he should do. Though his eyes fell to the icecream she was eating, and he sighed softly, turning back around to order two raspberry tarts. With a deep inhale, he marched himself over to where she sat, holding both his drink and the two tarts. Though his face darkened with a blush, and the fact he could not exactly look her in the eye, he worked up thirty seconds of courage, "These go well with that icecream flavor. Would you like one?"

Gazing out the window in a daze, thoughts flooded her mind. The town seemed like a splendiferous place to be. People were more than friendly enough as far as her observation of them went but then again what would she even know about townsfolk. Family, schoolmates, and the shop owners at the local Dagashi stores back in her county were the only people she knew, which weren’t good examples of her social life or what little of it she had. Optimistically she had the drive to do better and branch out.
The ding of the bell on the door snapped her out of her mind but before turning to see who walked in, the all too familiar, skin crawling scent of a werewolf got dragged in with the gust of the weather outside. Her body reacted quickly by tensing up causing her to sit up straight. Placing her hands on her lap, she gently gripped her soft, dark purple skirt and inconspicuously watched him out of the corner of her eyes.
‘Ok. Nothing to worry about, right? He’s just getting something to eat. That’s not odd. I just did the same thing a few minutes ago. It’s not like he has anything to do with me.’ She reassured herself, sighing in relief as she looked back out the window and released her grip. Though just in case something were to happen she closed her eyes and searched for electrical currents surging through the metal on the chairs and tables and quickly absorbed them.
The sound of his footsteps drew near as she wondered why he would want to come over here. Opening her eyes to look his way her questions were soon answered. Yet despite the biases their species hold for one another, she gladly accepted his offer. “I would love one.” She stated with a perky smile, not like she would reject a dessert anyway. Looking back on it, Yuri was a little too excited upon first entered the store and didn’t fully browse all of the items they had, which flustered her into an epiphanous rant.
“Why didn’t I think of that earlier?! The sweetness of the raspberries takes the edge off of bergamot in the earl grey tea while bitter aftertaste of them and the crunchiness of the crust would complement the smooth and sugary ice cream.” Realizing her erratic responses might have come off as a little odd for first meeting someone, she quietly chuckled in embarrassment and quickly diverted from that statement as she raised her hand to offer him a seat along with a pleasant introduction. “Anyway, you’re more than welcome to sit with me if you like. I’m Masamura, Namika, by the way.”

None of his usual apathy was available to him as he waited for her answer, every inch of him steeped in near absolute dread. Yet when she answered him, all of that dissipated and he even tossed her a little smile before gently putting the little tart down on the table in front of her. The little rant took him by some surprise, and he turned his gaze back to her, one eyebrow raised. Well, the commentary had been true enough, it'd been the same reason why he had chosen the tarts to begin with.
After her invitation for him to sit, he slid into the little chair right across from her, taking his spoon from his drink and swiping some of the not-yet-melted icecream off the top. When he put that spoonful into his mouth, he made a sound of appreciation, smiling to himself. For a moment there, he entirely forgot that he was in someone else's presence, but when he noticed again his face darkened in another blush. Men were not supposed to like sweets like this, after all. But yet he persisted. He'd bought the damn things, and he didn't care if someone was there to watch him eat it or not.
"My name is Mun Sayeh-Su. You may call me Sayeh." He pokes at the icecream in his drink, taking another bite as he tries to get the rest to melt. And once it is something of a slush he takes a sip with a smile, "I take it you are also a student bound for Cross Academy?" He didn't see why a vampire would be here otherwise. Even if vampires were somewhat spread across everywhere. It was just that this location had a strong amount of them, purely for the school.
While he waited for her answer, he took a bite of his tart, humming softly in an almost-growl as he did so. It was absolutely delicious. Just like everything here was. The next time he looked at his treat, it was gone. So he got up and ordered himself another sweet to go with his drink, then another something hot so he could warm up after this. After all, the wind outside was somewhat cool and with the sun not out he would be a little cold.

What an odd experience this was. Yuri was never expecting to meet a werewolf this quickly, let alone having a bite to eat with one. Then again the best way to get over your fear is to face it head on. Although, as far as she was concerned, he wasn’t anything like what most people describe werewolves to be, yet most of what she heard about them was ignorant hear say from fear stricken people. Which in all actuality they probably say the same thing about vampires too. Clearly this vamp would have to make her own conclusion about werewolves.
After he put the tart down she swiped a glance at him before he sat down. ‘Was my comment really that surprising? I guess people don’t really like desserts as much as I do. Maybe he thought the same. After all the shopkeepers here seemed to know him.’ So not only did this guy dress extravagantly, he also seemed to be a pleasant person who liked sweets too, or that's what she managed to gather from him in the time being. Of course, every person was different so she was just lucky to have meet him instead of some hot headed beast looking for trouble.
Pulling the tart in closer, Yuri scooped some ice cream, placed it on her tart and took a bite. 'Ahhh! Tastes like Heaven.' Closing her eyes, a smile stretched across her face as she analyzed the flavors and textures. Upon re opening her eyes, his introduction and question had caught her attention. “Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you Sayeh!” Enthusiastically said, “And yes, I am. I just got here today but I wanted to check out what kind of sweets were in this town. Although you seem to know what’s best around here. You’re quite innovative, you know?” She rhetorically stated, noticing his float.
She gently giggled after her statement and finished her tart and ice cream. ”So I assume you go there too? What’s it like?” Although it didn’t really matter since she would find out tomorrow. She was just curious about his opinion, yet the thought of mixing vampires, werewolves, hunters, and humans altogether was a little worrisome. Seeing that Sayeh had finished his tart and stood up to go order more, Yuri did the same. She was quite thirsty from the sweets and would like to clean her palate with some black coffee.

Her enthusiasm was not something he was particularly used to, but it was cute enough. He allowed her to speak for the time being, simply listening until she complimented his idea, which left a tinge of pink across his face. Sayeh played with the cup in his hands for just a few moments as she finished up and he thought on what he would want to say next, then glanced towards the window, "If you want sweets, this is the best place to get them from. Though there is a little place called The Happy Wonton. Its deserts are nice if you like something with a more Asian flare."
He glanced back to her after a moment, then towards the register. No longer needed, the owners had returned to the back to read the newspaper or... whatever it was old folks did in their down time. The young wolf smiled a little as his golden eyes scanned over all the sweets in the front cabinets, "But nothing can beat the sweets from here. It's cheaper than other places, and the owners care about what they're putting out. I come down here at least twice a day."
The question about the school, however, was not something he could as easily answer. So he propped his elbow on the table and rested his jaw on his hand as he thought about it, "Hmm... I couldn't tell you, really. I've only been here a week or two, myself. It's alright? Just not enough time to really make up my mind. The grounds are pretty, the architecture and the landscaping is wonderful. The location is grand, there are lots of little hole in the wall businesses to explore. The classes aren't too hard. Yet." He rolled his shoulders in a shrug, then sat up straight again.
"Being around..." He paused at this, looking around again wearily. Once he is confident that they didn't have anyone eavesdropping on the conversation he turned his eyes to her once more, "Being around "other kinds of people" is unique for me. I've personally yet to run into any trouble, and tensions don't seem too high. So I wouldn't be terribly worried about that. Not yet."
