Yes I know I'm a wolf and I've been known to bite, But I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me
Welcome
Hello potential student and/or teacher!! Before you begin, there are a few things your had better know right away.
First, Whispers in the Dark is an alternate universe Vampire Knight rp. Meaning, we are based largely upon the anime, but we've expanded the world in a pretty big way and we just don't feel comfortable claiming it can be in the same universe as the original.
Secondly, there are only original characters here. There should be a certain equality among our student body and to achieve that, we feel everyone should play their own character and not one designed to be the star of the show. We are all the stars of our own show.
And finally, we are rated PG-13. We know our limits, but we love to use them to the fullest.
Your pre-orientation is now complete. If we seem like the place for you, check out the plot and the rest of the rules and don't be afraid to ask us anything in the cbox!
Very sorry, but purebloods and alphas are banned to beginning members. Once you have at least one character and show us you keep it active, please feel free to post a pureblood or alpha character to be considered.

The Season
Year
Year One, First Semester
Season
Winter
The school has finally opened its doors to the... well, it's not so public yet.
All students are here by invitation only for now. Why? Because Cross Academy is a school unlike
any other... and not just because their school year begins in winter. Grades levels
(meaning freshman, sophomore, etc.) don't really matter much here. After all, the
students aren't just here to learn. We're all here to try to coexist. That's our main
priority. Teaching kids as we do it is just a bonus.
adjective - Having a smooth, rich flow; filled with something (such as honey) that sweetens.

We are hard at work redoing everything for WITD. It's been years and we are all older and wiser now, so it's time to give this site another shot! Let's get this thing back open!!
Kristina had on a long summer dress, she was wearing her black high heel boots because she didn't own any other pair. Having very few things meant she was limited on what she could do, she loved reading and yet she borrowed many library books never owning any for herself. She mostly had just clothes and school supplies. Though she did have a cell phone and wallet and of course the many daggers she normally wore under her clothes. The sword never left her dorm unless she was walking into town, you could never be to caution after all. As she made her way to the pool she opened the door, holding a towel in one hand she found a chair before setting her phone and wallet on it.
She took off her shoes and went into the water from the steps and made her way towards the deep end, one would notice that under the white summer dress was a black swim suit, she wasn't trying to be modest, no, she didn't want to risk being touched, which meant the only thing she didn't have on was socks. She had kept the summer dress on and the gloves, having many different colors to choose from she currently had white on. She didn't care how weird it looked for her to appear fully dressed in the water, she wasn't going to risk being touched. She was in the deep end as she did laps back and forth, trying to ignore anybody else that happened to come in.
It was hard because anybody near her would have their emotions wear off onto her, she had her powers under wrap but she sometimes hated being able to feel others emotions when at times it seemed bearable to only have control of her own. She came to a stop after a few minutes and just laid in the water, trying to relax.

It was not empty handed that Everett sauntered into the natatorium, he had his arms full of some squirming unfortunate sod. Some random other classmate that had apparently crossed his path in all the wrong ways, if the way he tossed the sucker into the water was any indication. He laughed as the twilight student sank down to the very bottom of the pool, crossing his arms as he watched them flail about on the bottom before trying to run for the stairs.
Truth be told, he didn't terribly even care if the student died down there. Though when he watched the miserable creature climb out of the pool on the stairs then run away crying, he rolled his soft violet eyes, "Little bitch." Then he spoke louder, "Don't you cross me again! Ya hear?!" His voice was commanding and threatening, that power launched through the echoing room. He stood tall, his shoulders straight as he watched his prey run out of the building in tears.
He scoffed, crossing his arms and that was when his eyes fell on the girl who was fully dressed in the water. "What the hell is wrong with you? This ain't no red carpet event." Everett looked down his nose at her, then after a moment gave her an all too mischievous grin, "Tryna catch someone's attention?" There were many ways that women tried to catch the attention of men. Or even other women, but this was by far the most unusual way that he had ever seen it done.
Everett looked her over again, then barked out a cruel laugh, "Tryna be sexy with your black swimsuit under that? What is it, innocent on top but sexy underneath?" He mockingly places a hand on his face, batting his pale eyelashes at her, "White is the color of purity, but black is filthy isn't it? How could you shame your dress with somethin' like that?"
Kristina had noticed somebody else walk in and had dropped them into the pool. When they flailed their arms around in the air, she dove down to help them get towards the shallow end, seeing as they were running towards the bottom of the pool before climbing the stairs. She could fell their emotions the top was being fear, the other was sad, seeing as they were crying when they had left. The male who had dropped them into the pool had called out to him telling him not to cross paths with him ever again. His emotions were rubbing off onto her but he was trying to act tough. It was men like him that needed a good slap on the wrist. Next thing she knew, he was looking straight at her, disrespecting her. Well there was really no sense in going out of her way to take that crap now was there. "If I was trying to get your attention, you'd be the first to know." It was clear she didn't have an interest in catching his attention, just was in the same area at the wrong time.
He was then laughing at her and she found herself showing off a blank expression, his taunting was unwelcome but she didn't want him to know how she was feeling over the comment. "I'll keep that in mind the next time I go clothes shopping." She answered turning her attention away from him, not interested in furthering it. He had asked her a question but she was done talking to him for now. After a few minutes she opted to get out of the pool to find her towel, shoes, phone, and wallet. "Maybe I just like being modest." She stated as she dried off, of course not bothering with the dress or gloves, she was in the process of putting her shoes back on. "Black is a nice color, I don't think I'll be changing it anytime soon." He had made fun of her, but it was clear that she had made the comment as if to prove how not bothered she was by it. "You shouldn't throw people in the pool, they could drown, it is also not nice." Oh, she just gave him some friendly advice.
"I hope you won't be to bothered by my leaving." She of course figured now would be as beat of a time as ever to excuse herself. "Seeing as you threw them into the pool by crossing paths, I figure now is as good as a time as ever to leave before you choose to do the same to me." Though one could be sure if he had thoughts of picking her up, she would make him pay for it. It wasn't every day that one got to feel her thoughts, but it would save her a trip in the pool if she didn't want to go. Though it would hurt to be dropped on the ground, it was worth it over being extra wet with her stuff damaged.

Ah, so this mundane looking girl at least had some fire in her. He grinned a little at her sassy comment and crossed his arms, "Yeah? Never said it was my attention specifically that I figured you were aiming for. Just attention in general. Don't see any other reason why you would wanna dress like you're goin' to a fancy dinner party just to swim." Though he was rather set in his thought process, he did pause to listen to her from time to time. Her poor attempts at tossing sass were both annoying and amusing.
Her comment about modesty was what really got him, though, and he tilted his head back in full blown laughter, "Modest?! Then maybe next time you should think of wearin' a darker colored dress! You know, something everyone can't just see through when it gets wet! Or, yanno, buyin' a damn wetsuit." He laughed hard enough to not hear her next comment, though the one about tossing people in the pool had him rolling his eyes again, even as he wiped away a tear, "That's kind of the point. It's not nice. I was trying to drown him." He points to the pool, then saunters over to where she was trying to get her things together.
When she mentioned leaving, he sneered at her, "Be my guest. Dunno why bein' tossed back in the water matters too much to ya, considerin' you're already soakin' wet. But whatever your dull mind has in store, it doesn't much matter to me." He shoved his hands into his pockets and leaned in closer so that their noses were almost touching, "You ain't hardly worth my time, anyway."
Kristina listened to his comments, he was making her angry but she didn't want him to know that, didn't want him to win. He was rude and if he had known her real reason, she didn't know if she would have been happy for his words or pissed off even more on the subject. He is right though. If I wasn't so concerned over the fact of being touched just for somebody else to feel my emotions, I wouldn't look so weird right about now. The modest comment had come out of her mouth in hopes of shutting him up, but he just kept going on and on and on. He was making fun of her, she found herself letting her emotions get the best of her. She shook her head to his comment, "Well then, it's a good thing you failed at drowning him." She stated, though it was clear she was having a hard time holding her temper. His words, on her way of leaving. "That isn't the point, your annoying and I don't want my stuff getting wet." She was talking about her phone and wallet. I think next time I should consider leaving both in my dorm.
He leaned in close to her, that was it. Now he had done it. She closed her eyes as if trying to remain calm, he was in her way and she wanted nothing more than for him to move. "Your emotions overwhelm me, get out of my face." She stated, more than willing to take his challenge. She could feel his emotions and she could encourage him to not be so angry and yet she let him be with his current emotions anyway. "I'm not him, I won't take your bull crap." Perhaps she was a brave soul after all. She wrapped her stuff into the towel before tossing it onto the chair, ripping her gloves off, she tossed them next to her stuff on the ground. "You have mood swings....." She stated, changing the subject back to him. Her voice changed, with much effort she was trying to sounds calm even though she was feeling really angry at him. "I suggest you act nicer." It was only a suggestion after all, she couldn't help but wonder if he would get the hint that she was using her empathy towards him.

None of her catty little comments phased him in the least, though he did find himself rolling his eyes again a few times. What a goody-two-shoes. She had a little bit of a backbone, but he could somewhat tell she was getting aggravated. He'd seen it more than enough to know what it looked like, after all. Almost everyone he was around wore an expression like that, if it wasn't one of just downright distaste.
What did catch him off-guard was the comment about mood swings. He leaned back, eyeing her like she'd just grown an extra head, then barked out a cruel laugh, "The hell I do! I don't have any mood swings, I don't know what you're talking about, girl. Graspin' at straws now?" He kept his hands shoved into his back pockets, keeping his stance dominant and confident. Out of all the things he'd heard someone say to him, saying he had mood swings was one of the strangest. And least correct.
Everett watched her strip off her gloves, one pale eyebrow arching a little as he watched. Her "suggestion" was absolutely laughable, and he just shook his head at it, "Right, and you should maybe try not being such a little brown noser. But you and me both know that ain't gonna happen any time soon." He gave her a rather sharp grin, then glanced at her things wrapped in the towel. It would be a low blow for him to just toss it into the pool, and while he could easily be petty that was not in his intentions for the time being.
Kristina was annoyed but he was willing by her standing around just encouraging. To her, he did appear to have mood swings and she wasn't about to take the comment back. "I shouldn't have to explain my reasoning to you." She stated, "You should look in the mirror, you might notice them too." He laughed at her suggestion, so she might get stuck doing it after all. She could only suggestion emotions, couldn't force, though she would be able to make him feel her emotions if she touched him. "It's funny that you would mention that, because I am not always as friendly as you may think." She stood up straighter, seeing as he appeared to be the confident type, she would be let with no choice but to show him who she really was. That grin, it deserved a huge slap. She was sure it wouldn't surprise him if she had advanced towards him.
She took in a deep breath. Yeah even for all my stuff, he deserves it. She raised her hand in the air to slap him in the face. If she got him he would feel a wave of all of her emotions, the betrayal, anger, loneliness, and many many unsettling feelings. I shouldn't have attempted, this is bad.... way way bad.... I am only human after all but I knew the moment he walked in what type of person he was, how he wasn't human. How easily it would be for him to snap me like a twig.... The problem is that I don't care, he deserved my attempted action, he deserved to know my true feelings..... If she didn't miss, or made any form of contact, he would have felt her overwhelming emotions flowing out of her and into him.

"Sorry, when I look in the mirror all I can see is my face. Moods ain't got a color for me." He grins, motioning around himself vaguely. He'd heard of some people "supposedly" seeing people's auras. Not that he could particularly believe such a thing. Maybe omegas could? Not that he would exactly know. He'd never come into contact with one. Though that was subject to change now that he was at Cross Academy. Although to begin with, his actual contact with other wolves had been intensely limited to begin with.
As she approached, he could feel his blood absolutely boiling with the desire for confrontation. He knew it was coming, could read it all over her little face. So when she drew back her hand, he didn't even bother with moving, even if he could easily lean back. If nothing else, he could easily tell someone else that she damn well started it. He would just finish it. Everett wasn't the sort to just take his punishment and sulk about it, since she was getting physical surely she would expect him to do much the same.
However, the waves of emotions that flew through him with that brief contact stunned him. He stared at the wall for a moment, his violet eyes wide as he tried to recall what were his own emotions and what were hers. It raised his ire. A low growl sounded from his chest and throat, and while he didn't shift into a wolf form, the sound was just as threatening as it would be if he were. When he turned his gaze back to her, there was a fire in his eyes and he had his teeth bared at her.
She was no normal human, and while there wasn't really a way for him to truthfully say she betrayed him, he did not like that she could make him feel things he did not want to feel. She didn't have the soothing presence of an omega, and her anger fed right back into him as negative feedback. The loneliness, the betrayal, those weren't his feelings. He knew that, and he tried his hardest to shove them to the back of his mind. He was not alone, he knew. Nor had he been betrayed. He was the betrayer, depending on who you asked.
Everett knew better than to get too closer to her now. He did not want her controlling what he felt. Not only that, but if he got too close he may very well just rip her throat out with his teeth, and he'd get expelled for that. Not that the school mattered too much to him, but it was a good defense against things that were much worse. He stopped growling with some difficulty, and even his words were tinged with it, "Yer a Hunter. No human has Empathy." He was not scared of her. Not in the least. He just did not appreciate it.
He made to grab her wrist, so that she may not slap him again, but thought better of it for the time being. In human form he wasn't small, and if he was caught by someone grabbing her wrist, it would look poorly for him. Not that tossing someone in the pool didn't look bad, but with that he could always play the fool and say he didn't know they couldn't swim. Now, however, he was unsure of how to continue with this "banter". What had started out as lighthearted fun was very, very quickly spiraling into something not so fantastic.
So for a while he simply stood there, trying not to let his more feral nature overtake him, "You should stop feelin' sorry for yourself, girl. Only person who can change your fate for ya is yourself. So get a grip and grow a spine." It was a bit harsh, but he didn't like when people felt sorry for themselves. Not that she seemed to be right that second, but her unsavory feelings seemed to stem from at least something similar. Or at least that was what he assumed.
Kristina found herself getting angrier at him as he continued coming up with comments, he was toying with her and she wanted it to come to an end. When she finished slapping him she regretted it. The fact she had let him win by getting her angry in the first place. She withdrew her hand, as if wishing to hide it from view. The fear of him possibly wanting to attack her had crossed her mind but not as much as physical contact to begin with. She listened to him growl. Slapping a werewolf wasn't the brightest ideas. She wasn't a brown nose, far from it. It was safe to say she was more of a hypocrite at times. She had taken a few steps back, looking at him. She could feel his emotions coming off into her like waves. When the growling stopped she sighed when he called her a hunter. "I'm not a hunter." She looked away, "Those people want to attack the vampires.... and I know some that want to attack the werewolves." She looked back towards him, "All I want is peace."
"Yes, I have Empathy. I can feel the emotions of others coming off in waves. Others can't feel mine unless they have the same power or I make contact." Well that explained the ugly dress now and the gloves. When he reached out to grab for her wrist she took another step back. "Don't.... you might feel more of my emotions...." It was clear that was the worst thing anybody could do at this point, was make direct contact with her. Why did I take my gloves off? Why did I allow my angry to boil and slap him... His emotions weren't fooling her, she knew what he wanted to do and she took in a deep breath. His words caught her off guard though. She laughed lightly, "I have a spine...." She just didn't have the guts to tell her parents off is all. "I just can't go back there. They will force me to do what I don't want to." She realized she was giving him more answers than she really cared to share.
"It doesn't matter anyway." She finished, moving over to grab her gloves to put them back on. "I don't have to deal with the problem while I am here and they are somewhere else." She stated, looking back towards him. "I'm sorry for slapping you. I shouldn't have done it." Her words, they sounded like she meant it. Though she was still slightly angry at herself for losing her nerve on him. He had every right to get pay back on her. "So what happens now?" She could feel his emotions, but she didn't care to guess what his next move would be. Either he would find some way to attack her without making himself look bad, or there was the other option. Though it was his choice, she wasn't about to give him the options. All she could do was prepare for the consequence.
