Yes I know I'm a wolf and I've been known to bite, But I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me
Welcome
Hello potential student and/or teacher!! Before you begin, there are a few things your had better know right away.
First, Whispers in the Dark is an alternate universe Vampire Knight rp. Meaning, we are based largely upon the anime, but we've expanded the world in a pretty big way and we just don't feel comfortable claiming it can be in the same universe as the original.
Secondly, there are only original characters here. There should be a certain equality among our student body and to achieve that, we feel everyone should play their own character and not one designed to be the star of the show. We are all the stars of our own show.
And finally, we are rated PG-13. We know our limits, but we love to use them to the fullest.
Your pre-orientation is now complete. If we seem like the place for you, check out the plot and the rest of the rules and don't be afraid to ask us anything in the cbox!
Very sorry, but purebloods and alphas are banned to beginning members. Once you have at least one character and show us you keep it active, please feel free to post a pureblood or alpha character to be considered.

The Season
Year
Year One, First Semester
Season
Winter
The school has finally opened its doors to the... well, it's not so public yet.
All students are here by invitation only for now. Why? Because Cross Academy is a school unlike
any other... and not just because their school year begins in winter. Grades levels
(meaning freshman, sophomore, etc.) don't really matter much here. After all, the
students aren't just here to learn. We're all here to try to coexist. That's our main
priority. Teaching kids as we do it is just a bonus.
adjective - Having a smooth, rich flow; filled with something (such as honey) that sweetens.

We are hard at work redoing everything for WITD. It's been years and we are all older and wiser now, so it's time to give this site another shot! Let's get this thing back open!!

Though the room seemed so still, so silent and at peace, the light on the water danced wildly to its own chaotic rhythm. The wolf girl sat on the front row of the bleachers, elbow propped on her thigh, and her head in her hand. Her expression was bored, but the light flickered excitedly in her eyes as she watched the water. It was enticing, teasing her to come in and experience, but the circumstances of that thought held her firmly in place.
Water, no matter how inviting it may seem, was nothing but death for a werewolf. If it was deep enough to submerge her completely, that would be the end of her.
With that logic, it appeared pretty crazy for Miki, a short statured female werewolf, to be wandering around inside the natatorium after hours. Well, in all honesty, it was a little crazy and she wasn’t really sure what she was doing here… maybe she just wanted to look death in the face and this was the best way to do that besides standing at the edge of the island to stare out into the ocean. That much water was unnerving, whereas the pool, she could handle.
A better reason was because this was likely the only place she could be alone to collect her thoughts. Everywhere she turned there were other alphas and vampires and hunters that seemed to ooze out from every nook and cranny. It was wearing on her nerves and fouling her mood. Miki was a predominantly violent alpha female; she lacked basic control of her emotions and often got into fights back when she was at home, but she was in a new place now and that fighting (at least in the public area of her school) would not be allowed.
The suppressor pills did little to keep her calm and only took the edge off of her aggression. She held herself back by pure will power as best she could and for the rest, Miki tried to surround herself with as many omegas as was possible. Their natural abilities were probably the only thing keeping her sane. But even so, they couldn’t be around her all the time. They weren’t her pack and they had all sorts of other people to hang around—life wasn’t about Miki and whether or not she flipped out.
Who knows, she thoughts with a roll of her heterochromic eyes,Maybe I’ll go down in history as the first alpha to become Mooncalled. [/style]
It was a quiet night, cool and just the way he liked it. The emereld eyed teen made his way to the Cross Natatorium which was a fancy name for a big bathtub. The teen smirked at the thought. Hands in the pocket of his jeans, the teen silently made his way along the path that leads to the public pool -which apparently opened twenty-four seven- and when he arrived there was no other person except for a girl. With a shrug of his shoulder, the twelfth grade student walked towards the bleachers intent on sitting down and relaxing.
Eddy gazed at the girl for a moment before looking away and noted that she was a pretty one. He strolled along the edge of the pool, the water reflecting the light from the moon. It was a pretty sight though he did not pay it much attention. Walking up to the first row of the bleachers, the emerald eyed teen took a seat not too far away from the only other person there. Eddy leaned back and propped his elbows on the back of the bleachers before reaching into the pocket of his jacket and retrieving a pack of Dunhill.
He thought that it was a nice night for a smoke, or two and without delay he placed one on his lips and lit it up. Inhaling the smoke of the tobacco, there was a tug on the corner of his lips. In his mind nothing could beat a good cigarette on nice night like the one that he was experiencing. Exhaling a smoky breath, Eddy eyed the girl from the corner of his eyes. He wondered if she would want one too, and so he asked:
[atrb=style, background-color: #000000; height: 360px; border-top: 2px solid #5b727f; border-right: 2px solid #5b727f; border-bottom: 2px solid #5b727f; width: 350px; border-bottom-right-radius:4em; -moz-border-radius-bottomright:4em;][style=border-bottom: 10px solid #5b727f; color: #EBEBEB; font-size: 15px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: -2px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; font-family: georgia; line-height: 11px; text-align: right; width: 325px; margin-top: 8px; padding-right: 10px; text-shadow: #080808 5px 1px 1px;]remember this feeling, how it feels to be alive[/style] [style=padding: 20px; overflow: auto; font-family: helvetica; font-size: 10px; color: #d1e3ee; height: 290px; width: 295px; background-color: #595454] The quiet night and the soft sounds of water and crickets outside had a lulling effect on the she wolf; her eyes felt heavy and she was starting to get sleepy. Miki stifled a yawn and let her bangs fall over her face, shadowing her eye from the light. But just as she was about to doze off, the door to the natatorium swung open, startling her out of the fog of sleep. Slow to sleep, quick to wake; and alpha had to be ready for anything at all times.
With a glance in his direction, she gave the boy who entered a once over. He looked a little older than her, but she couldn’t be sure—she hadn’t really been here long enough to know anyone yet. With an inhale (disguised as a bored sigh), Miki quickly tested his scent. Well, he wasn’t a vampire or a werewolf; she would have picked it up in his smell if he was. So that meant he was a human walking around after hours, she thought with a smirk, he seemed like her type of person.
Lazily she watched as he walked passed her, taking a seat a short distance away. So far so good; not once yet had she felt the need to growl or yell at him, leave his presence, or shift and rip him limb from limb. That was defiantly an improvement from the last couple of days!
Curiously, watched him; it wasn’t often in the past that the werewolf had had the chance to be around humans. They were fairly new to her. There he was, sitting within her reach, calmly and quietly. . . would he run, she wondered, if he knew what she was? Would he be going to this school if he knew how dangerous two thirds of his classmates were? He would probably find out one day. . . they were crazy if they thought they could keep this diversity of people here together a secret when more than half of them was the others’ food.
His voice in her ears made her jump in surprise. With a huff, angry with herself for being caught off guard, she blushed and quickly looked in the other direction. ”No thanks,” Miki replied, trying to make her voice sound somewhat friendly, ”I don’t smoke.”
Slowly, after she was positive she had composed herself, she turned back to face him. ”What are you doing here? Isn’t it a little weird to come to the natatorium at night for a smoke break?” [/style]
Eddy watched her reaction to his offer with amused eyes and almost chuckled at the way she was startled and looked that other way, it was cute he thought. He redirected his gaze towards the pool, gazing at the shimmering water. He considered her inquiry and asked himself: 'What was he doing there?'
The emeral eyed teen took another drag of breath, inhaling the scented tobacco. The reason for being out late at night was because he felt like doing it. Simple really. An amused smile played on his lips as he thought of an answer to give to the lass. He considered going with the truth, but where was the fun in that? So he decided to add to his reply, just to amuse himself further.
"Truthfully," he began. "I saw this little lass wondering about at night and I said to myself, now what a cute thing like her doing all alone at night?" He paused for a moment, gazing at the girl through the corner of his eyes. "Then I thought, why don't I go over and give her some company. So here I am, and there's your answer," said the teen with a smile.
[atrb=style, background-color: #000000; height: 360px; border-top: 2px solid #5b727f; border-right: 2px solid #5b727f; border-bottom: 2px solid #5b727f; width: 350px; border-bottom-right-radius:4em; -moz-border-radius-bottomright:4em;][style=border-bottom: 10px solid #5b727f; color: #EBEBEB; font-size: 15px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: -2px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; font-family: georgia; line-height: 11px; text-align: right; width: 325px; margin-top: 8px; padding-right: 10px; text-shadow: #080808 5px 1px 1px;]remember this feeling, how it feels to be alive[/style] [style=padding: 20px; overflow: auto; font-family: helvetica; font-size: 10px; color: #d1e3ee; height: 290px; width: 295px; background-color: #595454] She watched the smoke roll off the boy’s cigarette idly. It made little shapes as it slithered higher and higher in the air until it faded and disappeared. Miki had never been the type to enjoy being around smokers, what with her sensitive nose and all, but this guy gave her a sense of calm. Or maybe it was the pleasant air of the natatorium at night combined with having someone to sit this. Either way, putting up with a little smoke was acceptable, she supposed, for the easy atmosphere and the company.
”Uh huh.” The girl replied disbelievingly and raised a brow at him, but a smirk played across her lips nonetheless, ”And you, mister hot shot, thought a poor little girl like me could definitely not go without your company.” She was playing, of course; her tone remained light and teasing, and Miki even added a little flirty feminine charm in for good measure.
A little late night flirting was just what Miki needed to clear her mind of all this stress.
”Who’s to say I wasn’t doing just fine on my own?” She countered, staring at him curiously. Her dominating alpha personality was completely fearless, telling her to scoot a little closer, to take control of the situation and put this mild wordplay into full swing, but this wasn’t a wolf, the girl reminded herself, this was a human. They were on completely different wavelengths and something so bold might scare him off or make him lose interest. Human boys liked to be skirted around and teased; they liked to have something to chase… or so she heard.
Miki smiles as friendly and coyly as she could and let her hair fall over her shoulder. ”Did I look lonely?” She asked amiably, ”Or was it you that was lonely?” [/style]
"Everyone gets a little lonely once in a while," started the young man, feeling a bit more comfortable talking to the girl. Her teasing tone made him ease up a bit, he liked a girl with spunk and he saw that in they way she acts. And was that a hint of flirting she was giving him, Eddy chuckled inwardly at their interaction so far.
"And I'm sure that a lass like you can take care of herself," he continued as he gazed at her for a moment, emerald eyes deciphering they way the girl held herself. Sufficed to say something in the way she acts -teasing and feisty- attracted him, though it was not in the romantic sense. She was like a fresh breath of air from the usual company he had. She reminded him of someone.
Taking another drag of his cigarette, Eddy ceased his staring and leaned back once more to stare at the water's reflection. "I like you," he finally said. "You're feisty, I like that in a girl," he continued with a laugh at the end. So far he had met a lot of timid girls and he had no idea why. So it was refreshing to see a girl who was not afraid to say what's on her mind and give back a good reply to his teasing.
He fingered the silver loop on his left earlobe absentmindedly. His emerald orbs glazed over, himself lost in a memory. It was a time full of laughter, smiles, and tender teasing. He snapped out of his trip down memory land a second later however and smiled a small sad smile. He knew now who the girl reminded him of; his mother.
"I just realized, I never introduced myself," spoke the young man, shifting his gaze to look at the girl once more. "The name's Eddy, Eddy Graves and it's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance," he continued as he held his hand out to her, a smile on his lips.

In all honesty, for the first time in her life, Miki had been lonely. Her parents had gone to some extreme lengths to keep her and her sister—who before now were nothing but inseparable—away from each other. As an alpha and an omega, it was expected of the two to follow different life paths, but not seeing Miyu when she had been so present in her life was hard.
She was tugged, thankfully, out of her thoughts by his voice echoing again through the natatorium and she looked back at him smiling. ”I’m glad you noticed,” Miki replied bemusedly, ”I’ve worked hard to be capable of looking after myself… you sort of look like you’ve done the same.” Mix matched eyes looked him over once to make sure she hadn’t struck a nerve or insulted him.
”Thank you. You’re the first to compliment it.” A soft laugh resonated inside the walls, ”Most people find me intimidating,” When she tried to make friends, it was hard, they didn’t know how to handle such a spitfire and chalked it off as being threatening, ”or obnoxious.” Especially the people she liked… Miki tended to try too hard to get them to like her and it went over the top, from aggressive to annoying. ”I like you too. You’re relaxing… I feel like I haven’t had a chance to relax since this school year started, so it’s nice. Thank you for your company.” She gave him a half smile to express her gratitude.
He introduced himself and the girl took the offered hand, shaking it firmly. ”It’s nice to meet you Eddy. I’m Miki.” She responded automatically. It was customary to introduce one’s self after someone introduces themselves. ”Cross has people from all over, I’ve figured out. Where’d you come from?” The she wolf questioned. To make it equivalent exchange, she added, ”I’m from over the sea; got to ride on a huge ship to get here. It was terrifying.”[/style]
