Yes I know I'm a wolf and I've been known to bite, But I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me
Welcome
Hello potential student and/or teacher!! Before you begin, there are a few things your had better know right away.
First, Whispers in the Dark is an alternate universe Vampire Knight rp. Meaning, we are based largely upon the anime, but we've expanded the world in a pretty big way and we just don't feel comfortable claiming it can be in the same universe as the original.
Secondly, there are only original characters here. There should be a certain equality among our student body and to achieve that, we feel everyone should play their own character and not one designed to be the star of the show. We are all the stars of our own show.
And finally, we are rated PG-13. We know our limits, but we love to use them to the fullest.
Your pre-orientation is now complete. If we seem like the place for you, check out the plot and the rest of the rules and don't be afraid to ask us anything in the cbox!
Very sorry, but purebloods and alphas are banned to beginning members. Once you have at least one character and show us you keep it active, please feel free to post a pureblood or alpha character to be considered.

The Season
Year
Year One, First Semester
Season
Winter
The school has finally opened its doors to the... well, it's not so public yet.
All students are here by invitation only for now. Why? Because Cross Academy is a school unlike
any other... and not just because their school year begins in winter. Grades levels
(meaning freshman, sophomore, etc.) don't really matter much here. After all, the
students aren't just here to learn. We're all here to try to coexist. That's our main
priority. Teaching kids as we do it is just a bonus.
adjective - Having a smooth, rich flow; filled with something (such as honey) that sweetens.

We are hard at work redoing everything for WITD. It's been years and we are all older and wiser now, so it's time to give this site another shot! Let's get this thing back open!!
It was a… shockingly overcast day, and for some that meant that it was rather dreary, but not for Dimitri. No, these were the days that he could wake up early in order to freely roam the school during the day. Some may complain that it was crawling with humans… and indeed it was. Almost obnoxiously so. It was something he no longer really minded. When he had first come to the school, as a student, he had whined and complained about the stench but now it was just… normal. It blended with the scenery around them and he didn’t even smell it anymore.
Life on campas was always fairly peaceful, and it was something that he enjoyed. Though not as much as when there was something going on. Be it a fight, an event, or something else. It was just the energy that buzzed through the entire campus that had him thrumming with it as well. It was all in fun, though. His usual rounds took him all through the courtyard, and he occasionally stopped to talk to anyone that struck conversation with him. He would have initiated. Would have been more than happy to, as a matter of fact, but most students were busy and the teachers were dull.
He paused when he spotted a familiar form and grinned. He ducked around some bushes, making sure that he came up behind the headmaster before he lightly placed his hand on the man’s shoulder. “Headmaster Abel, a surprise to see you out.” He was sure that the same could be said about him. After all, he was a night teacher, and as such he generally didn’t come out during the day. The little humans just had so much more energy than his students did. It was fun watching them bustle around. They were fast paced creatures, but that wasn’t surprising. After all, they only had so long to live. A vampire, on the other hand, could take a slower path.
There were a few reasons as to why Abel was a person of interest to him. For the most part, it was because Dimitri rarely ever saw him. That was thanks to their different sleeping schedules, he had no doubt, that and it seemed like the guy was generally lost in his work. Which was a pity. He was sure that the headmaster could be fun if he so wanted to be. Or, if he knew how to be. It was something that the blonde wanted to see if he could figure out. Did he know how to have fun? Or was his usual demeanor a hoax for a more enjoyable personality underneath?

He can see why it attracted so many students. Some of them would come here and ditch class or just enjoy their lunch break. He wondered if they liked the décor. Not that it mattered but to Abel it did. Every detail that had brought the courtyard to life made him appreciate his surroundings more.
Today was like any normal day after a long day of work. This was a daily norm for the headmaster. After working so hard he would go outside in the early morning to take it easy. It was like a never ending cycle for the forty year old. Every day he would sleep, get up, get dressed, go to his office and start working on looking through the new students registration papers, then he would go through anything that any professors might have left behind for him to look over, any letters of complaints, or he may go to each class and observe the teachers work. Either way Abel always found something productive to do. He didn’t know why he didn’t go out like most adults and have some fun, to go out to some club or out on a date and enjoy himself. Life was far too short for a human so sometimes you have to spend each day like it was your last. He didn’t know whether he had no fun in his body or what but did things best when he worked on school matters.
He sighed and stretched. He looked at the sky and noticed a few birds passing by. A feather had fallen down on his nose. He took out his cigarette box and his lighter. He was about to light it until an unexpected stranger came out. He thought he heard a few leaves rustle but before he could defend himself he felt someone touch his shoulder.
He had to admit it startled him. He hated it when people would come from behind him. He yelped and sneezed. The feather that sat on his nose had fallen towards the ground.
"Huh..?" His eyebrows rose. "Same goes for you, Dimitri. What are you doing up so early? Shouldn’t you be in bed still asleep?" Abel finally said as he light his cigarette.
Dimitri laughed when he noticed that he had startled the Headmaster and tipped his head to the side, grinning at him as if he were the big bad wolf trying to charm little red. “I could be in bed sleeping… but it’s such a beautiful day today.” He motioned up to the gray sky and leaned back on heels of his feet. “I wanted to enjoy this time to myself. To see the day students and teachers. It’s rare for me to get to socialize with anyone other than the night students. And they’re so boring.” It was mostly because he always got to see them. And the day students were new and interesting. There were always new ones running about too, seeing as how humans are so short lived. They always seemed to graduate and get replaced faster than his own students.
A lone drop or rain landed on the vampire’s cheek and Dimitri instantly frowned. “Well bother. Here!” He trotted over to one of the many tables and unrolled its umbrella before pulling out one of the seats. “Here. Have a seat, Headmaster.” He gave the man one of his famous charming grins before he plopped down at the table, himself. “You can afford to have at least a little while off. Have a seat.” He’d go get them some tea or something eventually. Not that he’d really be drinking it, but that was fine with him.
Some found him odd, others thought him creepy… and some found him just outright entertaining. Dimitri wanted to find out what it was Abel thought. But to have anyone to have any real thoughts about someone, they had to actually get to know a person. And that was what the vampire was doing. He wanted to know more about this Headmaster. He was practically an enigma, thanks to the fact that he just generally wasn’t around. He didn’t blame the guy, though. He was sure that being in charge of such a chaotic school was a lot of work. Moreso than he could imagine, he was willing to bet.

So much about smoking outside and taking a breather. But many it was a good thing it started raining. So many people in his life tried to make him stop smoking. He wasn’t ignorant about the risks but it made him feel better to smoke. When you lit that cigarette, that feeling when you inhale and exhale was somehow worthwhile. He’ll perhaps give up one day. One day when he wasn’t too stressed all the time. Yes, it was the work, the stress of it all that always made him lit one cigarette after another. Most people sought out music, the gym, anything that would relieve them from their daily life. Abel however chose a lighter and his cigarette. It was the truth and he didn’t hide it. It was unfortunate but he grew to accept it.
His hair managed to get a little wet. Abel shook his head a little. He looked like a wet dog. He listened carefully to his excuse for being out. It was true. It had to been boring every once and a while only to spend time with only the night class. Heck, he would have probably have thought the same.
Abel walked towards where Dimitri sat and took a seat as well. "I suppose you’re right." His eyes looked to the sky as he spoke. "It is kind of hard since I’m the headmaster." He laughed when he said this. That wasn’t the only explanation. The forty year old man was always like this, a workaholic. He sometimes wondered if he would forever be like this. [/style]

He leaned further onto the table, tipping his head to the side which changed his entire expression from pleased to slightly mischievous. “Do you like getting the chance to be lazy, Abel?” He didn’t care if the man didn’t want him to call him by his first name. The vampire was informal to a fault and it wasn’t all that shocking that he would decide to drop the act and start calling Abel by his name. The forty-year-old was just lucky that the blonde hadn’t come up with some atrocious nickname for him yet.
It didn’t take long for the rain to start falling at a faster, harder rate, cooling the temperature down significantly. That was fine, Dimitri got hot rather easily anyway and he was happy that the air was starting to cool. They were just lucky they’d gotten the umbrella up when they did, else wise they would have been soaked. It was a rather harsh downpour, and unless they wanted to be wet they would likely have to just stay where they were.
“Goodness, the weather today is so… confused. I’m not sure it knows what it wants to do. It’d looked almost sunny earlier and yet now look at it.” Dimitri laughed, holding his hand out under the rain. He didn’t really care that his sleeve got sopping wet. He wasn’t the type to care whether or not his clothes were wet or dry, so long as they dried properly so there were no permanent wrinkles or something of the sort. He watched the rain for a moment, before turning his attention back to the human in front of him, “Tell me… When was the last time that you simply relaxed?”

[atrb=valign,top][STYLE=background-color: #3A2C2F; font-family: courier new; color: #F1ECDC; font-size: 9px; letter-spacing: 6px;]OH NO I'VE SAID TOO MUCH[/style][STYLE=background-color: #EFF8F2; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; text-align: justify; color: #3A2C2F;]That was a good question. Did he like to be lazy? It was a little hard to answer because Abel wasn’t really the lazy type. He always had something to do. It was in him to want to do something rather than sit around and do nothing. But as a child he wanted to hide from chores and not do his homework. Then again, any child would rather play than do their homework or make up funny stories of why they couldn’t complete a certain task. Abel had changed a lot, that’s for sure.
When he had days off it was hard for Abel not to return to the academy and not touch paperwork. He always had sticky fingers and had to do something with his hands or he would become extremely bored. Sure, he could have gone out but Abel didn’t have that much friends. He was somewhat a loner. Because of work occupying most of his time, he didn’t have much time to mingle. It was like a drug. Work was like a drug. He couldn’t get enough of it. It made him feel worthy. Doing something really productive at the academy made him feel at ease. He began to think he was crazy. But that was how Abel was.
"You know, I can’t say I like it too much." He said as he leaned back a little. "I feel like I can do something more. I’m not bored or anything but it’s like if I don’t work on something I’ll go insane." He chuckled a bit. "I guess I’m not used to sitting back and taking it easy. I stay so busy that it’s hard for me to take a day off."
Abel blinked a few times as the weather had changed to a little rain a whole ton falling down on them. It was good they had an umbrella. Abel hated getting wet. Plus he didn’t want to catch a cold. Could you imagine him getting sick and have to stay at home and take it easy? Man that would be a sight to see. Abel would really wish he wasn’t sick at all. "Indeed. I didn’t think it would rain like this. But I like the sound." Every time it rained it was always somewhat peaceful. As long as there wasn’t any lightning, Abel enjoyed the pouring rain. In many ways the rain always gave him that relief he couldn’t find elsewhere.
He stroked his chin. "I can’t say I have had a day when I took it easy." Scratching his head he tried to think of a moment where he took a day off but couldn’t think of a day he had.
