Yes I know I'm a wolf and I've been known to bite, But I'm telling you that you'll be safe with me
Welcome
Hello potential student and/or teacher!! Before you begin, there are a few things your had better know right away.
First, Whispers in the Dark is an alternate universe Vampire Knight rp. Meaning, we are based largely upon the anime, but we've expanded the world in a pretty big way and we just don't feel comfortable claiming it can be in the same universe as the original.
Secondly, there are only original characters here. There should be a certain equality among our student body and to achieve that, we feel everyone should play their own character and not one designed to be the star of the show. We are all the stars of our own show.
And finally, we are rated PG-13. We know our limits, but we love to use them to the fullest.
Your pre-orientation is now complete. If we seem like the place for you, check out the plot and the rest of the rules and don't be afraid to ask us anything in the cbox!
Very sorry, but purebloods and alphas are banned to beginning members. Once you have at least one character and show us you keep it active, please feel free to post a pureblood or alpha character to be considered.

Year One, First Semester
Season
Winter
The school has finally opened its doors to the... well, it's not so public yet.
All students are here by invitation only for now. Why? Because Cross Academy is a school unlike
any other... and not just because their school year begins in winter. Grades levels
(meaning freshman, sophomore, etc.) don't really matter much here. After all, the
students aren't just here to learn. We're all here to try to coexist. That's our main
priority. Teaching kids as we do it is just a bonus.
adjective - Having a smooth, rich flow; filled with something (such as honey) that sweetens.

We are hard at work redoing everything for WITD. It's been years and we are all older and wiser now, so it's time to give this site another shot! Let's get this thing back open!!

The girl glanced at it and smirked. Soon it would be time for all the little bloodsuckers at Cross Academy to wake up and start their night. It was Saturday, so there was no school today, so no girls to gawk at the gates and no having to worry about the night class traveling in a massive swarm. That was perfect; stealth was something the girl needed right now; in order to accomplish what she had planned.
Miki had decided the day before that for her next troublemaking expedition she was going to be the first werewolf that snuck into the night class dorms.
The motive behind her plot wasn’t really clear, even to her. It was partly to test herself and find out something she had heard from a teacher. He had told her that the real decision whether or not to attack when faced with a vampire was one that she made, not one that the suppressor pills made. That was curious to the wolf girl; had she just been relying on the pill the whole time and no even trying to suppress herself? Well, she was going to find out tonight.
Another reason, Miki figured, was that when they found her there—and she was absolutely sure they would—it would send the vampires into a frenzy. It wasn’t every day a single werewolf snuck into the lair of a coven of bloodsuckers. Tonight would be a night to remember, that was for sure. Every vampire here would know who Miki was by the time the sun rose, she’d make sure of it.
So, smug in her verdict, she raced quietly across the grounds, making sure to keep out of sight just in case someone happened to spot her and figure out her plan before she got to complete it. Silently, Miki snuck to the wall surrounding the moon dorms. Sniggering to herself, she wondered briefly whether it was really supposed to keep people out or if it was actually designed to keep the night class in. The pause was only brief, however, the next moment, she was pulling herself up onto a tree branch close to the wall; it would move her closer to the top so she didn’t have to jump so high.
Aiming herself carefully, the girl used her inhuman strength to propel herself toward the wall. The overshot that happened afterward, she hadn’t prepared for. The bricks flew beneath her and Miki found herself falling toward the grass on the other side. Thankfully, there wasn’t anything in the way and her landing was somewhat graceful; beautifully executed when the amount of her surprise was taken into account.
Slowly standing, Miki spared a cautious glance around the perimeter to make sure all the vampires were still inside. Finding no one, she sighed and relaxed a bit, but kept her guard up as she trudged on. Glancing at the door, she wondered if she should just stroll through it like she belonged, but decided against it; who knows if they had a pureblood stashed away in there. Miki was a strong alpha she wolf, but she was still too young and inexperienced to take on a pureblood by herself. Besides, it was too obvious and that wasn’t her style.
Casually, the werewolf strolled around to the back of the building and opened a door that looked like it wouldn’t make much noise. Creeping inside, all her senses kicked into overdrive. Her instincts were pricking at her insides like needles telling her to shift into her wolf form, the form she could better protect herself in, but she squished it down and continued on.
Miki made sure to go up and down the halls multiple times and tried to go into as many empty rooms and touch as many things as she could find until finally she chose one room and pulled the door shut behind her. Yep, the vamps might be asleep right now, but when they woke up, they were definitely going to smell her; she made sure this whole place was coated in werewolf scent. Reclining on the bed like it was her own, the girl smirked devilishly. It was going to be hide-and-seek. Who would find her first? [/style]

As it turns out, not all vampires wake up after the sun sets. Kazimir, for one, liked to be awake during the time when the last rays of sunlight dipped below the evening horizon and when those same lightrays burst cut through the dark veil of morning. Therefore, he had been awake for at least half an hour before the werewolf broke into the night class dorms. He had been drawing. Or, 'sketching' as he called it, even though the images he created were levels above those of a novice art student. No one really knew that he was even remotely artistic, not even Theo, and Kaz intended to keep it that way. He didn't want people to see his drawings... the pictures echoing in his brain... they would invite so many questions. So many... And he didn't want to answer them: not to the school, not to his classmates, not to Theo,
not even to himself.
At first, he didn't even notice the scent of dog along the stretching hallways, but eventually he sensed the stench. It was irritating, to say the least. He didn't like the idea of a werewolf lurking around the rooms where Theo was sleeping.
After hiding away his sketch book and going to the other side of the room to check that Theo was soundly asleep, Kaz followed the trail left by the werewolf. There was no rhyme or reason to her path, which seemed, quite simply, to be the result of illogical impulse. Her goal, if she even had one, was beyond (or, perhaps, bellow) Kaz's intellectual grasp. It wasn't a challenge at all to find the trail of the girl, seeing as she seemed to be deliberately smearing her canine scent over everything she could get her hands on, but finding where she was hiding at that very moment proved to be a bit more challenging.
He spotted the girl after a minute or so, but didn't confront her. Kaz could only guess at the absolute chaos that would commence if a shouting match with the girl alerted the entire hallway of vampires of her presence. Kaz had few biased opinions against werewolves, despite his history with them, but other vampires were not so tolerant. And so, he waited, following her more silently than a panther stalks its prey. It seemed that there was a method to her madness, or perhaps it was just carelessness. That made Kaz's life indefinitely more simple. Walking around the story, he entered an unlocked room, one that the she-wolf, if her pattern continued, would enter.
And so she did.
Kaz imagined it would have been near- impossible to smell a vampire within the building where dozens, if not hundreds, of them slept. Thankfully, she didn't detect him right away. Or... At least she didn't make any indication that she had detected him.
After she laid down on the bed, Kaz spoke, his tone irritated: "Dogs aren't allowed in here without a leash." Cold? Yes. Rude? Without a doubt. Racist? Absolutely. It was how he treated everybody. His crimson eyes flicked towards her, instantly noting her heterochromia and short stature. "You should leave before everyone wakes up," he said simply, staring at her with lightly glaring eyes. He would have to physically drag her out if she became... problematic.

So, she had come in acting like she owned the place, believing she’d outsmarted the blood suckers, lying on the bed like she was supposed to be there… she had closed her eyes, but the voice behind her had them snapping back open, dousing her good mood with the sharp bite of his tongue.
At first, Miki made no move, biding her time to make sure she wouldn’t be attacked from behind. Slowly, she turned to face the speaker, her eyes narrowed and one too-long-to-be-human, sharp canine breeching her lips. Mix-matched eyes met crimson, taking in his bright her and ivory skin. Recognition dawned on her and the girl quickly corrected her threatening stance, taking up a playful smirk instead. He words hardly affected her now that she knew who it was.
“Kaz…!” She joked, slipping to the end of the bed to face him, not bothering to stand, “Fancy meeting you here!” She laughed hollowly and eased her upper body backwards in a pose that clearly said she wasn’t scared. As far as she knew, he didn’t mind her so long as she didn’t get in his way or hurt his brother… although she had opened her mouth before and told Theo some things she shouldn’t have, but what was new there? Miki was always doing things like that; she just couldn’t do anything right, it seemed. It was always the hard way, the wrong choice, and the words she regretted.
“By all means, leash me.” She teased, tugging at the black ribbon around her neck with her finger. Where the fuck was this coming from? Yeah, she had some major unrequited feelings for this vampire and he totally knew it, but that was just it. Unrequited, meaning it was her feelings, not his. The bitch just didn’t know how to quit while she was ahead… and to make it worse, she continued…
“Aww, c’mon! I like it here. It’s more fun sneaking in here than it is trying to find something to get into out there.” Miki pointed to the window and winked at him, “Don’t lie, you know I’m entertaining.” [/style]

Kaz wasn't afraid of Miki attacking him. She'd figure out it was him sooner or later... and if it did happen to be later, Kaz wasn't a stranger to fighting with werewolves. As a kid he had been both furious at and horrified of them. Actually, he had been afraid of just about anything that resembled a canine, but he got over it eventually... It's funny how someone who's even more afraid of the world than yourself can make you stronger.
Miki, being an alpha, had a huge wolf form, so all he'd need to do is step to the other side of the door frame if she tried pouncing. Luckily, he didn't have to. Unfortunately, Miki didn't seem to notice the danger of one werewolf getting her scent all over a building filled with vampires. As a general rule, the vampires at this school didn't like the werewolves. They were dangerous and, overall, rather obnoxious. Kaz, however, found everyone obnoxious unless proven otherwise, so he didn't have any problem with Miki coming into the moon dorms... he just didn't approve of her blatant lack of subtlety. "Yeah, fancy that: a vampire in the moon dorms," he replied sarcastically. Why was she really here?
He raised an eyebrow when she mentioned leashes. He knew that Miki had feelings for him... she was about as subtle about that as she was about breaking in and rubbing her scent everywhere... but dating her would make things complicated as hell for the both of them, not to mention Kaz only really considered her a friend. Granted, Kaz didn't make friends lightly, and that was one of the reasons this whole situation was so difficult. He couldn't just avoid her as if she was an annoying pest, because that wasn't what she was. Kaz didn't hate her, despite the various times she had locked horns with Theo, and he didn't want to hurt her by giving in to her desires and then leaving her for someone else later.
... Speaking of Theo...
"I might have to but a leash and collar on you if you don't stop putting crazy lies in my brother's head." Apparently Miki had gotten Theo to believe that Kaz was dating the art teacher or something like that. She was cute, sure, but he wasn't dating her, and even if he was, he wouldn't want anyone other than himself to tell Theo... anyone else probably wouldn't expect nor know how to deal with his reaction.
"Two comments: First, you'd be a lot more entertaining if it wasn't so early. The sun hasn't even set yet. Second, vampires aren't fun to be around when they're angry enough to tear you limb from limb for rubbing your scent everywhere. So how about we get out of here before you become breakfast?"

It was hard to believe that just a couple of months ago, a conversation like this with Kaz would have been the farthest thing from her mind. Even now, pushed to the back of her skull and out of sight, was that little voice trying to bribe her into her old ways. It was hard to change something you’d known your whole life, after all. The only think keeping her on this path was Fredric, the past alpha of her pack, the man who drilled her head full of rules and beliefs that apparently no one else shared. Miki hated him enough to change herself.
That bastard had fucked up her life—almost literally—and ruined everything she had… The fact that Everett (Fredric’s own son) had murdered him was a bit refreshing, but the hatred the she wolf had for him would never completely ebb; he deserved to have suffered before he was given a release like death. He got off too easy… maybe he was rotting in hell… that was an entertaining thought.
Drawn out of the morbid wonderland her train of thought was headed to, Miki winced, laughing a little nervously. “Uhh, ya heard about that, huh?” She was a little withdrawn from him, he could probably mistake it for fear or regret or whatever he wanted to, but the werewolf was trying her best to put him back in the friend zone, where he wanted to be… it was kind of too late for anything between them now anyway…
Her hands came to wrap around her middle—a nervous habit the lupa had developed while she was in Georgia that hadn’t had the chance to reappear until recently. “Sorry ‘bout that… I was a little outta control with heating season so close… but I’m better now.” She gave him a charming smile to prove it. But, really, your choice in women is atrocious… Miki wanted to say, but held it back along with the scowl that twitched at her lips.
“Che. It’s not my fault y’all waste the day away in bed.” She teased with a grin, “Aww, c’mon, they could use a little teasin’! Half of them think they’re the greatest thing to walk the earth… I could totally take care of myself if they decided to get all bitey.” Miki bared her teeth and did a biting motion to emphasize, “I doubt they’d like the taste of wolf blood anyway…”
Despite her protest, she stood up from the bed, refusing to allow herself to get closer to Kaz, but signaling that she was ready and willing to go. Pulling her hair over her shoulder, she played with the long strands like it wasn’t a big deal to be in the same room with him… alone… damn… she shouldn’t have let her mind travel to that area. Forbidden zone!! Abort, abort!!
“Buuuuuut, if ya insist, I guess I’ll indulge.” Miki threw a smirk at him, “Where to?”[/style]

Miki was an oddity. Truthfully, Kaz knew virtually nothing about her past life, yet she still managed to become a friend of his. He had known -- probably even before she herself knew -- that she wanted to be more than friends... but that couldn't happen. It wouldn't have ended well for either of them. But for some reason tonight she seemed... withdrawn. Kaz wasn't sure if she was nervous about how he'd react to her subtle verbal attacks at Theo from the other week, or if she was just trying to keep her emotions in check. He had no intention on asking her about it either way.
"Yeah, I figured heating season had something to do with it once I started being chased around by crazy she-wolves..." he replied to her apology with a slight frown, "Why hasn't anyone tried making a hormone suppressor or something? I mean, it'd save everyone a lot of trouble..." They had drugs that could control their violence and drugs that could eliminate a vampire's reliance on blood, after all, so why didn't anyone have the idea to make something to suppress the chaos of one of the most despised weeks of the year?
"Well at least we don't spend the whole night in bed. People are so boring to be around in the day, and the sun's annoying..." Maybe 'annoying' was an understatement, but Kaz could care less. He smirked at Miki's teasing and shook his head slightly. She still didn't know much about vampires, did she? "Miki, the ones who have a superiority complex are usually the purebloods. I know werewolves are great at killing level E's, but purebloods are in a whole 'nother league; even I try not to mess with them. Maybe they wouldn't like your blood, but I'm sure your fur would make a nice coat." And with that lovely mental image, he stood up and walked to the door.
"You're gonna' make me think of something to do after I just woke up? So cruel..." he was kidding, of course, made evident by is slight grin. "First I need to grab something to eat, then we could go free running if you want? Of did you have something other than antagonizing all the vampires in the moon dorms in mind?" By the time Kaz reached the door, the sun had already dipped below the horizon, leaving the sky with no more than a golden glow of its memory. Even with just the dim light filtering in through his pupils, Kaz still squinted reflexively from its stinging brightness. So obnoxious. He turned to face Miki briefly with a raised eyebrow as they approached the gate. "How'd you get in, anyway?"

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=vAlign,top][atrb=class,background][classy=texty]❥ I'm just a notch in your bedpost[/classy] [classy=subtext]But you're just a line in a song[/classy] [classy=lefty] “I ain’t surprised.” Miki replied, winking at him as she sniggered, ”I did my best to stay away from ya… otherwise ya mighta been in some real trouble.”
A lingering feeling fluttered in her chest as she watched him. Miki tried to squish it down, but it was just as stubborn as she was. Friend zone, friend zone, friend zone, keep him in the friend zone… But my god, he was lovely—everything single thing about him. What a shame it was that he just wanted to be friends. She wanted to respect his wishes and keep him as her friend—one of the best she had—but when feelings like these arose so persistently, it was hard… would it really be so wrong to say Kaz was her friend, but keep him as her secret crush?
It would.
There were so many things stacked against her. Like Felix and that stupid mating season… Everett too… if it were up to Miki, she would drop them both. (But at present, the little bleach-blond psycho was proving to be the one person that wouldn’t let her down, so the girl supposed Everett couldn’t be dropped… who would be left?) And other things… like breeding…
Miki had done a great deal of thinking about vampires and werewolves. It would have been doomed right from the beginning. As a vampire, Kaz would never die… though werewolves were created from vampire blood, they age as humans do and to top it off, are so violent that most don’t live to see old age. As time went on, Miki would age and die while he remained frozen in time. It was better that he was eyeing a that human… though the she-wolf loathed how weak she was, there were many pureblood on campus; if she and Kaz wanted to be together, as a human, she could be changed, she could become a vampire for him… Miki would never be able to do that… vampire bites had no effect on wolves…
A relationship between a wolf and a vampire was just… unethical… illogical… forbidden.
”You crazy? If they make a hormone suppressor, the whole wolf species’ll die off.” She said, smiling at her own joke, ”Ya know ya like a little attention every now and then.”
Try as she might, Miki just couldn’t stop flirting with him. Like a fly to a sprider, Kaz had trapped her in his web and he hadn’t even tried; she’d flown right into it and happily waited to be devoured.
”I think you’re underestimatin’ me.” Finally a frown crossed her lips and she protested, crossing her arms over her chest, ”I’m an alpha, the closest thing to a pureblood we wolves have. I may not be much in this form, but as a wolf, purebloods are fair game.” Even through her griping, Miki followed Kaz out of the dorm, smirking at his comment of her being cruel. Sometimes, she thought, sometimes I am cruel.
”Freerunning would be epic!! I’ve been havin’ to do it on my own for a while, ya been hidin’ from me so long. There was that flirting again. Damn… oh well… she supposed she’d just never stop flirting with Kaz, even if he did stay just a friend from the rest of her life.
”Oh, you know those awesome ninja skill a’ mine.” Miki teased, ”I moonlight as Spiderman.” [/classy] [classy=righty][/classy] [classy=righty] TAGGED: Kaz [/classy] [classy=righty] WORDS: 563 [/classy] [classy=righty] NOTE: Sorry it's so, so, so, sooooo late!!
